Baloney. Step number one was to walk down the hall to the admiral. He’s whiny memo didn’t say a word about what he needed to keep the ship combat effective. No request for additional medical personnel, no request for urgent replacement sailors, no request for decontamination equipment, no request for assistance of any kind. No mention of the mission.
All he did was whine about wanting to dump 90% of his crew ashore in CDC approved individual berths.
It may sound harsh, but mission number one is not babysitting his crew from a cold. It’s executing the mission of that ship to peak efficiency. The well-being of the crew is the next concern, and the reason it’s a concern is because that’s what makes number one happen. But he forgot his mission.
