Gumball rally. Funny, stupid movie. That was the best line

Modern gasoline doesn’t store very well even with additives - unfortunately.”””

Stabile works quite well for me.

Outrageous. I can't imagine how awful it would feel to exceed the speed limit.

Your Honor.

Yes for about a year at the most and that seems to be dependent on the storage conditions. I am more interested in a longer period than a year. I do notice my yard machine gas fades after about 6 months even with Stabil - but that is stored in a cabinet exposed to the elements.

I made a few pheasant hunting trips to N.W. Kansas and the first trip out there we flew into Missouri then drove the west of the way. All flat land and I was amazed at the number of dead mulies along the way. I was also amazed at the number of birds of prey we saw sitting on fence posts along the highway.......

No such thing as an "MG Spitfre."

There were MGs and Triumph (a separate company) made the Spitfire.

I used to drive a Spitfire in the 80's. Awesome little car and more legroom than you would expect.

Well, I used to drive an MG Midget in the 80's and it would occasionally spit fire out the tailpipe.

I had one of the first 1970 914s sold in the midwest. Drove it from KC to San Diego taking the scenic route.

Looked like this and was a lot of fun except in winter.

We had a ‘72 Spitfire, and I loved that little car! Reverse went out on the transmission, but I could back it up by just putting my foot on the ground and pushing.

I won’t add insult to anyone’s injury by mentioning the many failures of the Lucas electrical system.

Laughing at your story.

About 25 years ago I drove on the autobahn for the first time with my future father-in-law (who had a license but had not driven in 20 years). Me I had a license from Alabama but that is another story as was the patch over one of my eyes. . . good times.

Anyway, it was dark and I was doing OK at about 80 km/h in a borrowed POS. Always on the lookout for the police I noted waaaay back in the distance a set of headlights.

Being a pilot I understood “relative motion” and in this instance it was clear that whatever was back in the distance was going like a scalded dog.

Easing into the right lane in no time at all a Porsche (I think?) zoomed by and disappeared in the distance.

About 20 minutes later I was greeted by the sight of flashing blue lights in the distance. Now me with a patch on one eye and no valid drivers license in my pocket I figured my goose was cooked.

But as I got to all the cop cars all they were interested in were the shredded remains of what I think was the Porsche that passed me.

Like I said good times!

I drive a Jaguar XK8 with 395hp and averaged 90mph from Jackson, Tennessee to Nashville where it expands to four lanes. I wouldn't do it again as the troopers are all along the road but that day I just happened to get lucky.

Back in the 80’s and 90’s we had our own mini-version of the Cannonball Run - The Disney Run.

We lived in Fort Lauderdale and Disney main entrance was 235 miles away.

My boss set the record in his Pontiac Grand Am making it in 2 hours and 15 minutes.

I thought we were going to die.

That was a great, fun movie back in the day! Doesn’t seem to exist anywhere on DVD or streaming unfortunately. Young Jackie Chan was in it before he learned English.

The skeptic in me wonders how this is possible. How do you average 100mph+ coast-to-coast and not get pulled over by a cop even once?
