Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi told Politico Friday that she is considering keeping the House of Representatives out of session longer than the April 20th return-from-recess date, and may not bring Congress back until well into May — and she’s warned President Donald Trump to keep the country under lockdown even longer.

Pelosi is drafting a fourth coronavirus relief package, to be introduced when Congress returns from recess in the spring, but it now appears that trillion dollar aid bill will be indefinitely delayed while she holds her chamber in recess.

DOJ is getting involved in the ban on religious services in some states and there have been other Constitutional challenges to some States’ lockdown procedures.

Any overturned?

Presidents get elected or defeated primarily on the economy.

Yes, that is true.

He can order it all he wants.

If Nancy refuses to comply...then what?

he may, on extraordinary Occasions, convene both Houses, or either of them, and in Case of Disagreement between them, with Respect to the Time of Adjournment, he may adjourn them to such Time as he shall think proper;

He can only do that if there is a disagreement on the Time of Adjournment. It is purely an administrative action. One that has never been used, so it would really cause an upheaval.

Federalist Paper 69 goes into some depth explaining the founders wished to avoid such a power as it leads to tyranny.

“The obsession with counting Covid19 bodies has turned the planet into 7 billion morons....”

And the counting isn’t even done scientifically - if someone gets hit by a car and tests positive for Covd-19 - that counts as a Covid19 death.

Fauci and Birx both (proudly) admitted as much last week, seemingly defending the practice on the basis that the more ‘inclusive’ numbers would and projections incentivize social distancing.

In other words, business as usual: the government is telling lies to scare the public into compliance.

Just like gun violence
Just like climate change
Just like WMD

Warns Trump Not To Restart Economy>>>>>

The witch is dead, Jim!

Obviously she does not observe the separation of the branches of government.

If Nancy won’t reconvene congress in this crisis, then in fact she is actually empowering the executive branch further.

So much winning for President Trump. WOOT!

I don’t think the president will be signing any more voice vote bills done by a dozen radical Dems in the House.

Several red states never shut down. My guess is that some red states with blue cities will reopen first, keeping their blue cities shut down.

Democrats and their MSM will have conniptions!

“ and she’s warned President Donald Trump to keep the country under lockdown even longer.”

What is she talking about? The President doesn’t have the country under “lockdown.” That has all been done at the state and local level.

What happens if the Senate Republicans come back, and the Republicans in the House come back, but Nancy and Schumer keep the Dems home? Is there a way to go ahead and convene both the House and Senate?

I considered running for Congress and telling the truth. My candidacy would tell people that I will give them whatever they want at no cost to them, because my real goal is to get rich and enjoy benefits that you peons will never see. Please vote for Connie Artist for Congress!

Unlike the rest of the country, they’ll still receive full pay and benefits, and of course their taxpayer funded pension will still be funded.

A bunch of recess appointments should change their minds. It would be difficult to argue that they are in session when it hits the courts.

Doesn't matter much, it's the Senate that confirms Executive appointments, not the House. And I have no idea if the Turtle has put them in recess/adjournment or not. As for the House being in recess, I assume the Senate gave them permission to do so for more than three days?

But either way, there is no court case to be made. SCOTUS has ruled before that the Congress determines its proceedings, and only they determine whether or not they are going into recess. The three-day rule has been taken to mean that less than that is 'not' a recess, while anything more 'is'. So there's not much to be done there. The ONLY thing I would think Trump could argue, is that the Constitution requires a quorum to do business, and since most pro forma days only have a couple people from VA/MD there, they don't meet the quorum requirement to do business, and therefore the pro forma session was not valid. So they either need to have sufficient members in session once every three days (minimum), or they need to officially adjourn for the longer time frame, and give Trump the chance for his recess appointments.

PDJT can use Rahm’s rule himself “Never let a good crisis go to waste”. Having the Supreme Court rule on the constitutionality of the House and Senate’s phony pro forma sessions could be a game changer.
