There is something to that. Imagine the decreased expenses of shut down schools. The lights are out. The heat(or AC) is turned way down. The buses are sitting still(think bus drivers, Fuel, maintenance not needed). The millions spent on high school foot ball and other sports are not being spent. Supplies are not being used. Even if you still pay the teachers and staff(most of them not even working) then they are still saving millions of dollars. And yet they will probably ask for even more money during the next tax season.

I personally think that all those savings should be deducted from the next school tax bill.

I was just thinking about that on my way back from the bank, where I stood in line for an hour to get inside.

How many people will be unable to make their property tax payments this year? What are the repercussions? States going to file liens, bank loans will be in technical default etc.

I was thinking exact same thing. I pay a lot of property tax for schools, which are closed. Refunds are due! I bet they laid off a lot of hourly workers, but not, of course, the teachers, who are a protected class.
