A Chinese laboratory at the center of new theories about how the coronavirus pandemic started was the subject of multiple urgent warnings inside the U.S. State Department two years ago, according to a new report.

U.S. Embassy officials warned in January 2018 about inadequate safety at the Wuhan Institute of Virology lab and passed on information about scientists conducting risky research on coronavirus from bats, The Washington Post reported Tuesday.

Those cables have renewed speculation inside the U.S. government about whether Wuhan-based labs were the source of the novel coronavirus, although no firm connection has been established. The theory, however, has gained traction in recent days.

Earlier this month, Tucker Carlson did a segment on the origin of the coronavirus. Carlson, who has been pretty aggressive in his coverage of the virus, pointed out a Chinese research paper (since pulled by the author) which claimed the virus could not have arisen at the Wuhan wet market because the horseshoe bats where the virus arose were not for sale at the market. In fact, the bats are not naturally found anywhere within 900 miles of the market.

However, bats were being studied for viruses they carried in two labs including one just a few hundred meters from the market.

Novel coronavirus cases could have been reduced by 95 percent had China responded to the outbreak just three weeks earlier than it did, a March 13 study by the University of Southampton has found.

Now they are trying to pivot to “research” lab, as it has been proven that this virus was man made. Everyone who has been following this knows that this was a bioweapon development lab, PLA officers posing as “scientists” all over the world is not fooling anyone anymore.

I tried to post Epoch Times’ video on Facebook and they rejected it saying that it had false claims that the virus was not from a natural origin. The video said that COVID-19 did come from a natural source, the Horseshoe Bat. However, the political bias of Facebook, I suspect, is being influenced by China.

That's exactly the point. The evidence that it came from the lab is mounting -- but that doesn't mean that it was intentionally released, it could have, but mere incompetence is also possible. Then the other question: what were they doing with the virus in that lab? There's no such thing as purely civilian uses in China, everything is an extension of the state. It's entirely possible that they were combining legitimate research, but keeping an eye open for a future biological agent that could be used as a weapon. It doesn't need to have been engineered to be considered for use as a weapon, in fact if you look at it the right way, anything can be a weapon. It just depends on how you put it to use.
