Rush: DIY Great Depression
www.rushlimbaugh.com ^ | 4-16-2020 | Rush Limbaugh

This coronavirus is a gigantic teachable moment. It’s teaching everybody a whole lot of things if they would just take the time to learn it — and the biggest thing, the absolute biggest thing that you have the opportunity to learn: How in the world can anybody sane want to keep this economy shut down?

How can anybody sane be anything less than scared and outraged and mortified that 22 million people have been thrown out of work over something that may end up killing fewer than 50,000 people? It is unprecedented. And yet there are people who want to maintain the circumstances we are in. And it boggles the mind.

It befuddles the mind. It is so counterintuitive to Americanism. We cannot go on. Trump is gonna be announcing his reopening plans, and already Governor Cuomo has announced that he’s gonna get a consultancy group in there to work on competing ideas ’cause he doesn’t want to be bound by whatever Trump’s plans are.

Fine. I’m struggling for ways to break through, to permeate obviously existing great walls of resistance that some people have. Some people, when you start criticizing government, they just tune you out. They’re not interested in it. But this can’t go on! I can’t believe it has gone on this long. I can’t believe… In one way, I can’t believe the American people haven’t arisen in outrage over this yet.

Here is a question that the FEAR Bros should answer. They kept predicting 2.2 million deaths, then 1 million, then 500,000, then 240,000, then 120,000, now 60,000 deaths, and actually now predicting a lot fewer.

So the FEAR Bros got their way. They are part of a cabal that successfully destroyed the greatest economy in world history. For what? to prove a point?

It's not only the ChiComs who have much to answer, not just the Democrats and the never-Trump gang.

The FEAR Bros got some explaining to do.

The FearBros are too afraid to explain.

What is needed is a way to make FearBros more afraid of something other the flu. It's the only way they are manipulated.

The people with money and power in this world know full well they are hurting/killing more people by destroying the world economy than would have died from this virus.

They hate us deplorables and really want us dead. Buy weapons and ammo, folks.

They need to be put away, the FearBros. They’re dangerous to themselves, and to others. They’re never satisfied unless and until they’re infecting everyone else with their sickness.

The damage - and the lives destroyed- from the economic shutdown are going to greatly eclipse the damage done to human life and health from the virus.

This we know. Our actions to rebuild what was lost fighting the virus will be far, far more difficult, lengthy and uncertain than the actions taken to combat the illness. That we know also.

Absolutely correct. So many people who normally (at least they claimed not to trust the gov’t and their agency bureaucrats and claimed not to believe MMGW Models) would not allow themselves to be chicken littles, and would normally question these things, immediately fell for the fearmongering by gov’t bureaucrats and the MSM.
And, then to make matters worse when called on they began using the same arguments as the gov’t bureaucrats and the media.
To my dismay, a great many on this site were right there with the fearmongers every step of the way.
And, what do we get for all of this? An annual Flu-like death rate a far less than annual flu-like hospitalization rate a far less than flu-like total infection rate AND 22 MILLION Unemployed Americans and, very many small businesses that are destroyed.
The Phrase, we have nothing to fear but fear itself, is a lesson too many have not learned.

Just so I fully understand your line of thinking. Are you saying the public health measures that Trump made and the therapies such as the anti marlia drug promoted by Trump did not lower the worst case numbers that these models did not take into account?

It will be interesting to see how long it takes to get back to
some form of normalcy. Growing, harvesting, processing,
and getting the production back into the supply line will
take some time. How long I have no idea. But get it on
down the road.....

Rush-My parents and grandparents’ most formative experience in their lives — in other words, the thing that was the top of the list in the way they raised us, the values they attempted to instill in us — was the Great Depression.

My dad was born in 1918; my mom in 1928. His parents never forgot it.
It shaped everything they did the rest of their lives.

I fully agree with that statement having been born in 1935 and seeing how the end of the Great Depression played out and the lifelong effect it had on the older people than me.- Tom

Saw Tucker address the issue of a new revision downward to the number of C19 deaths. It was hinted it could go below the death rate for the flu. If so, then it means we went through all this for nothing.

There reason for the lock down in the beginning was the hospitals would be over run.....but the number of cases over time would be the same???

Then they changed there reason for the lockdown....to save lives...

But the only way to save lives is with the drugs...looks like that is working...

Now they will say the lockdown saved lives because it gave us time to find a drug that works..

But how many did they save ?.. with the drugs

Was the lock down worth the cost of say ten thousand lives...if the drugs actual save that many people ?????

Last time there was a great depression it took a multi year world war to get the country out of it.

They just couldn't stand it that Trump fixed Obama’s broken economy. That a white guy had to come along and clean up an irresponsible black kids mess.

Now, they see this as a once in a lifetime chance to hurt people they don't like, while paying off people they want to influence and inveigle into voting for their party. At the same time taking power for themselves that they otherwise could only dream of.

Just listen to what our totalitarian gov is saying here in Cali. and you'll see I'm right. He is definitely going to try to have mandatory mail in only voting, and setting up the stage for complete cancellation of capitalism due to subservience to the global warming hysteria. All thanks to the Chinese virus.

The Democrat governors should just be honest and admit that they want to keep the country shut down through November 3.

It’s the only way they can win.

I think it’s a mixture of that, plus

*The core fear of any bureaucrat of underestimating a bad situation (especially something they’d never encountered in their experience), and

*The growing realization that, with the economic damage now threatening to swallow them and their states, and an increasingly restless, impatient, and angry population casting eyes at them, they are now holding a tiger by the tail.
