Because mo started getting the virus later than other states. My kid was in mo 3 weeks in march waiting to come home. In a small town outside STL. That town just had their first death in a nursing home last week.

It’s remarkable how the states most affected by the virus are Dim controlled.

I mean I know that their policies are screwed up because of the dim control, but what is the connection.

Possibly Dim states are naturally electing dims, therefore, the population would have to be mainly Dims.

Dims may be lax in things other than politics, so culture, attention to healthy ways of life, care for each other just may be missing in the average Dim.

Just an observation.

Article I, Section 10 of the Constitution limits the powers of the states by prohibiting them from entering into treaties with foreign nations (a power reserved to the president with the consent of the Senate), printing their own money, or granting titles of nobility.

There will be openings. Some places are preparing to open and challenge any fines or penalties in court since the legislators did not define the law. Governors do not make laws.

If they are bankrupt, then the only penalty is that they would go more bankrupt.

Who is this “we” you seem to think you speak for?

And I assume the “you” you don’t want includes those who grow the food, make the TP, and keep the shelves stocked so “your” belly is full and “your” butt is clean.

Interstate Compacts and informal working agreements without force of law (which is what this is) are allowed.

You may,or may not, agree with the policy, but the Governors have the legal authority as the executive of a state to work together like this. As long as each Governor is acting within the authority granted to their office by their state constitution

The complete sentence follows, no mention of 'foreign nations'. Also note the semi colon after the word 'confederation' which joins independent clauses that are closely related to each other in thought or category.

No state shall enter into any treaty, alliance, or confederation; grant letters of marque and reprisal; coin money; emit bills of credit; make anything but gold and silver coin a tender in payment of debts; pass any bill of attainder, ex post facto law, or law impairing the obligation of contracts, or grant any title of nobility.

The US Constitution contains an express requirement for approval by Congress of compacts between states, the US Supreme Court has held that some agreements between states do not require such congressional consent. Article I, section 10 of the Constitution, provides that “[n]o State shall, without the Consent of Congress, . . . enter into any Agreement or Compact with another State.”[14] The Court in 1893, however, stated in Virginia v. Tennessee that congressional consent is required only for a compact if it is “directed to the formation of any combination tending to the increase of political power in the States, which may encroach upon or interfere with the just supremacy of the United States.”

I don’t know if completely correct, you know lawyers and courts. It’s all up to interpretation and which way the wind blows.

You’re probably right. I only read a summary so that’s an interpretation as well.

So you have food, TP and various other commodities. Hmmm. Wonder who delivered those? Hmmm? Could it be a Trucker? You’re welcome!

I do believe that if you come to Ohio from Michigan, you should be quarantined for two weeks. We’ve worked really hard here to “flatten the curve”.

“* sustained control of the rate of new infections”

You don’t have “control” over the rate of new infections now and you never did. All you have control over is how the utilized data is presented for public consumption. If you’re making broad assumptions towards a certain diagnosis and allowing that to influence graph curves, etc., then it becomes an undue influence and not “control”. Understand that Blue States want control through influence of the people they are supposed to represent.

I don’t like the balance of only 2 R Governors with 4 D’s. The D’s will drag there feet to make sure nothing gets done. It is a good set of states to form a partnership, but including a nut like the Michigan woman is doomed to disaster.

Ohioans are having a huge rally today a(4/18) at State House protesting and said we are going back to work! Now!

DeWine will either call out the National Guard, or he will listen to the R legislature and the Ohio People and let us get back to work. He is not particularly a Trump fan. He fears criticism of immediate past Governor Kasich who hates Trump.

It is time for DeWine to come down off his power trip.
