The factor of 50 in the Bay Area is almost certainly can't be scaled to the country as a whole, but I bet the rates in LA county are similar.
These reports are piling up now...all saying that somewhere between 5% and 15% of the population has been exposed to the Wuhan virus.

But we do not have 85 times more hospitalizations. What does this tell us?
Herd Immunity doesn’t occur at 4% of the population having acquired immunity.
It hit us, and most of us are still alive and most did not have to go to a hospital nor did we die!
They are leaving that reality out re these numbers.

The problem with antibody tests is that antibodies tend to cross-react with similar antigens. They did not use an FDA approved diagnostic grade kit, but a research grade kit. The standards for an FDA approved kit are far higher than those for a research grade kit. And coronaviruses are structurally similar to each other.
And the bodies aren’t stacked as high as a tower in the Golden Gate Bridge because...

I think this thing can be beaten. There are forces that will do anything to prolong it. Nevertheless,destroying the country is not the answer. I have lost some already who think I am insane and inhumane. We are at war civilly and worldly. It is Conservatism vs Globalism. Globalism nuked the world. That was their last ditch effort because President Trump is their Kryptonite.
When this all started in the news back in February there was some scientist who predicted that anywhere between 40 and 70% of the WORLD would get this infection in the next year.
There was a lot of mockery here on FR over that prediction.
I wonder how much of our genetics makes a difference in infection rate.
Live in the DC burbs, run into people who work at the National Cancer Institute and they tell me developing cancer is genetic. Basically if you don’t have the mesothelioma gene, you can eat asbestos for breakfast every morning and you won’t get mesothelioma.
We are seeing a high rate of asymptomatic cases. Is it genetic or virus load?

Wonderful! The virus is 85 times less lethal than previously claimed. We were misled. It’s not much worse , if at all, than regular old fashioned seasonal flu. As I’ve been postulating all along but now we have the proof. And we have an effective and dirt cheap treatment with several more in rapid development. —— all this panic is destroying our country and millions of Americans’ jobs and businesses. Let’s advise frail elderly folks to be careful if both flu and this new similar virus. And let’s get back to work now!

Note that only people with symptoms are tested.
If there are tons of Asymptomatic infected people, it means the denominator to compute death rate is much bigger, and the death rate therefore is much SMALLER.

This may be true. So, it means the vast majority of people may become infected without negative affects. So, tell me, if this is true, why did we destroy our economy and plunge this country into trillions of debt that not even our great grandkids can retire.
