I have a friend, 35 years in law enforcement, who commented that people don’t need guns in their homes. I told him I would consent, if when he left work, his guns were under lock and key at the jail. And if all hell broke loose, he would forgo his own family, and plant his butt on my front porch. Uh, he didn’t agree so much.
Hey, every old, experienced gun owner was once a new gun owner. The newbies can learn. I’ve helped a few of them myself. There are still dads out there who know how to teach theirs sons how to shoot.

He is neither trying to persuade gun owners or legislators.
He is paid by the Giffords Center, which is funded, mostly by wealthy, sanctimonious leftists, such as Bloomberg and others.
He is pandering to them, to validate their stereotypes, to insure he is valued and kept on their payroll.
Neither legislators nor the public, nor new gun owners are the target audience. His paymasters are.

To be fair, that is a helpful suggestion albeit not in the way he intended. If your firearm is unloaded, it’s in storage and you should properly secure it - as in make sure it doesn’t fall over and damage itself or other firearms. :P
