Bats. Cats. Disgusting rats. Whatever.
Here in Phoenix, if you managed to kill the alley cats (you would fail), you would be overrun with roof rats. They tried killing cats during the plague in Europe thinking of them as carriers, The rats were the real carriers, and killing cats only made things worse. Much worse.

The British brought the cats over to fight the rats. There are still plenty of rats, and no shortage whatever of cats. They do not do their job. What they do is produce endless litters of kittens, which they eat along with garbage and birds.
