Coronavirus: France bans online sales of nicotine products

France has banned the online sale of nicotine products and limited their sale in pharmacies, after researchers suggested that nicotine may play a role in protecting against coronavirus.

The new rules cover products like nicotine gum and patches, designed to help people stop smoking.

Last week, data from a Paris hospital indicated that smokers were statistically less likely to be admitted for treatment for Covid-19.

Trials are set to continue in France.

France has reported nearly 22,000 coronavirus-related deaths since the start of the outbreak earlier this year.

The authorities are planning to gradually lift the lockdown from 11 May.

What are the new nicotine restrictions?

The French government says people will only be allowed to buy one month's supply of these products.

~snip~

The run on nicotine products was sparked this week after researchers noticed the low number of smokers among those hospitalised with Covid-19.

During the Spanish flu epidemic, smoking was advertised as something to protect a person against the flu.

Just like staying indoors and being lock up inside is being advised today.

Hmm. Smoking makes you more likely to die before you reach old age. Beer Flu is most dangerous to people who manage to reach old age. It couldn’t be that. Nope. /s

I’ve been smoking my pipe more than usual since I’m stuck here at home.

Normally, I smoke good old-fashioned Carter Hall. But I decided to try a bunch of new blends by Sutliff and Peter Stokkebye as a Christmas present to myself. All pretty good.

Folks don’t understand pipe smokers, and we often get tarred with the same brush as cigarette smokers.

I’ve never smoked cigarettes and I’ve never inhaled.

Pipe smoking isn’t a habit, it’s a hobby. I don’t expect a lot of people will understand ... especially women.

But I can tell you ... I’ve gotten more pleasure out of my pipe collection than any of the women I dated back when I was still into that futile endeavor.

Folks, what are your thoughts on the apparently low hospitalization/infection rate among smokers? What’s helping smokers in this situation? Is it the nicotine? Or is it some more toxic non-nicotine component of tobacco smoke. e.g., carbon monoxide, etc? If nicotine patches and/or gum turn out to be preventative/therapeutic, that could be a game-changer. If the key ingredient is some more toxic component that results from combustion, that ain’t going to help as much since physicians aren’t exactly likely to prescribe a carton of Luckies nor are a ton of non-smokers or ex-smokers likely to want to try that approach.

It's almost as if The Powers That Be don't want anyone to try to treat or prevent the China 🇨🇳 Bat Flu. Sunshine and fresh air? No! Stay indoors and wait for the vaccine. Nicotine patch? Don't even think of it! Wait for the vaccine. HCQ? No! Zinc-free trials show it causes more harm than good. Besides, Stelter's wife needs it. Wait for the vaccine.

This fascist government will never give credit to cigarettes, tobacco, or nicotine, especially that neo Napolean, Fauci, whose CDC runs those insipid ads.

At one time there was a saying that every one smokes in France. Even the kids. I don’t know how true that is today, but this will sure encourage it.

At one time there was a saying that every one smokes in France.

Japan and France have had the most long-lived populations in the world for along time. Both countries have also had among the highest percentages of smokers. There is a lot to be said for good genes and eating well.

(I am a non-smoker, but don't get too worked up about those who choose to smoke.)

Anyone paying attention (meaning carefully sifting information from outside the "mainstream news") already knew about this roughly 2 months ago. China had also published information that former smokers, or those that had quit some time ago, were being hit hard by the virus. Smokers, not so much. It isn't "politically correct" but that was the info. This was not well received at the time, and caused the tobacco nazis to "REEEEEEE!!!!".

Nitric oxide in cigarette smoke could improve respiration.

https://clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/show/NCT04290871

Clinical trials for NO.

https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/12215243/

“Smokers are exposed first to high concentrations of inhaled NO from smoke and, second, to endogenously released NO after uptake of nicotine into the brain.”

22,000 coronavirus-related deaths in France.

equal to 110,000 deaths, adjusted to US population.

meanwhile, FakeNewsMSM devotes hours daily trying to prove hydroxy is BAD, but seem happy to do straight reporting on introducing nicotine into covid patients.

"I don’t expect a lot of people will understand ... especially women." Pipe smoker here since 1957. I remember dancing with women while smoking a pipe and being complimented on the wonderful aroma. Now, if I get any comment at all it's either that I suck or that it reminds them of their grandfather.😎
