Cocaine Mitch is right on this.

Why should taxpayers bale out spendthrift states, who are upside down on their overly generous pension programs and spend wildly on every imaginable leftist program? King is an idiot.

Peter King has accomplished nothing, other than to run his trap too much. Against his own party , no less!!!

I know that is were the President currently stands and I support him. However I am realistic enough to know that the pressure to give them funds will be extreme.

It’s the same principle as having a stupid relative. Give them money and they fail to learn. Better to let them struggle and learn all on their own.

King is a “Republican” because there are some people even the Democrats will not accept.

There will be money for states, counties, and cities in the next bill. It will be passed before June and signed by Trump. Because otherwise come this fall and school districts are opening with two-thirds the teachers that they need because that’s all they can afford, when police and fire departments are downsized, when prisons have to release prisoners because of lack of guards, when roads are unplowed and DMV offices aren’t opened then the Democrats - and Blue state elected officials - will put the blame on Mitch McConnell and the GOP. In an election year.

Wouldn't the same be true of airlines, banks, oil companies, auto manufacturers, and other large corporations?

Yes but they waste a lot of their resources on overly generous social welfare programs and public employee union pensions. Why should the rest of the country bale states with poor management out of problems that existed before this virus came into being.

worth repeating

What money?

The federal government is already broke to the tune of how many trillions of dollars?

New York’s money problems have zero to do with public pensions. The NYS retirement system is well funded and so far has been well managed. The state CAN NOT touch the money, and oh boy does Andy wish he could.

NY State public employee retirements are not in trouble. They would be if the state govt. could get their hands on it, but so far they can not.

So lets just put that stupid little myth to bed, shall we?

NY State is in trouble because of stupid decisions and stupid spending by Democrats. Period.

New York is a big place.

Most of it, territory wise, is red.

Of course, if you never bothered to look at a map you would think we are all one overpopulated city of idiot liberals.

Pete King (?-NY), One of the worst Republicans in Congress, I’m glad he’s retiring.

McConnell is saying you’re going to keep the 7 billion hole because you need to own THAT. You created that and it’s your problem. We’ll give you the difference but not the whole 16 billion.
>

Then McConnell can pay for it? Why it is the responsibility of the other 49 States for the ineptness of the 50th??

By. WHAT. Authority??

Pete — you represent a state that spends billions of dollars on free food, housing, medicine, and education for ILLEGAL aliens, rather than protecting legal residents. And you are begging for more money? GFY.

To bail a state out for higher than anticipated Public Health Department costs associated with buying and distributing face masks and testing patients and tracking contacts of confirmed Covid-19 patients, is fine.

Says YOU. Send a personal check. States failure to plan/equip != responsibility of taxpayers

Whole lot of BUT...BUT....BUT before getting to the proper answer to it all.

At some point you can bet that the FEDS are going to bail out the states. To what extent remains to be seen.

By what authority? The same authority they have spent the previous 20 odd TRILLION dollars. None whatsoever. There has been no authority to spend 20 Trillion dollars on the war on poverty, war on drugs, war in Korea, Vietnam, Iraq/Kuwait, Iraq, Afghanistan, medicare, medicaid, Section 8 housing, social security, the EPA, CDC, etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc.
