Just a morning musing- In 1780, the Revolution had been going on for five years, but by April, 1780 it was a stalemate in the North. On the other hand, the Brits decided to resume the war in the South. By 1781, they had conquered Georgia and South Carolina, with all the Southern States being restored to King George III's rule.

80 years later, in 1860, there were rumblings of the South seceding and a Civil War but most folks in April, 1860 thought it ridiculous. By the end of 1861, the costliest war in American history began.

80 years later- many Americans were concerned about the war in Europe, but in April, 1940 nobody was worried that it would spill over into the US. Even Japan's imperialism was half a world away. By the end of 1941, we were in our last war for national survival.

Now, it's 80 years later. The Communist Chinese just let loose a virus that kills the elderly and the sick. IMHO, they developed it to get rid of the useless eaters in their population. Then they allowed the Chicom Cooties to spread around the world, where it would spread panic. The Democrats, who are in the back pocket of the Chicoms, was more than happy to try to destroy Trump's booming economy. I'm afraid of what 2021 might bring- war with Red China, or Civil War against Proggies upset that Donald Trump gets re-elected, or patriots rising up after the Dems somehow steal the election through fraud.

Have you ever read “The Fourth Turning” by Strauss and Howe? The 80-year cycles you discussed are explained there, and they use them to predict what is coming. They predicted something like this back in the 1990s, based on the 80-year cycles. I believe we are presently in the Crisis of this particular Fourth Turning. What’s next? A greater depression, then a world war.
