We’re destroying hospitals in the name of fighting the coronavirus

We had to destroy the hospitals to save them.

You could be forgiven for thinking that’s the upshot of the coronavirus lockdowns that have suspended elective surgeries and generally discouraged people from going to hospitals.

Many hospitals and health centers are getting pushed near, or over, the financial edge. At a time when we feared that hospitals would get overwhelmed by a surge of patients, they have been emptied out. At a time when we thought medical personnel would be at a premium, they are being idled all over the country.

Why should hospitals be any different?

We’re destroying literally everything.

how ironic if a fearper or pandemic boy can't find an ER when they're having a heart attack....

I'm thinking my hospital might face bankruptcy, 14 patients today on a floor usually around 40....

thx so much to all of those who pushed this....you didn't stop the virus, we have saved NOBODY and even without visitors, nursing home patients dying as one might expect....

In the eastern part of King County we had the first deaths from “covid-19” in the USA. There was a brief period of time in the beginning of March when the two hospitals at the center of it all were busy. By the time the “stay at home order” went into effect they had emptied out, and have not been close to being overwhelmed since.

People are now just ignoring the “order”, even though half the local businesses, all the normal entertainment centers, and all the malls are closed... traffic is nearly back to normal. Most people are through taking it seriously at this point.

The Democrats are doing all they can to keep this shut down going because they want to destroy the economy, but its over and they just don’t seem to get it.

Tort reform.

No more mandatory treatment of the sniffles at the ER. Send them, and their 36 kids back out the door.

Stop charging my insurance company $5,000 for a $500 procedure.

This is not difficult, and if you ran out of money with the exorbitant prices you’ve been charging for all these years - tough titty.

Crazy over reaction. They should have just designated certain facilities or wings and personnel for the Corona Chan-isolation so to speak.

And let the rest of the hospital continue to function and serve the health needs of the community at large. Simple triage and test.

Pretty well the same tale went down in my locale. The only things the hospitals are getting slammed with these days are drug/alcohol overdoses (suicide attempts), beatings & assaults (domestic violence), car wrecks (drug/alcohol related). The quarantine strategy is racking up more of a body count around here than the coronavirus ever will.

Small hospitals, who survive on elective surgeries are on life support. General practice doctors and some specialists are like wise’

I predict the liberals will use this “opportunity” to buy those hospitals and engage those docs thereby starting a national health system ala Britain.

and I will not blame it on the virus.

I will lay blame on the government, media and the scare freaks that helped to spread the hoaxdemic

Let them, the government freaks haven’t realized they’ll be the first out of work when the tax base is destroyed. That plus the fact that most government workers have no marketable skills other than pushing paper will make it fun to watch when the chickens come home to roost.

It’s not really the airlines fault on either this pandemic nor the ill advised shutdowns. All the buybacks in total weren’t that much money and they won’t be buying back stock for a while. You do know your 401k, IRAs, and pensions do well with buybacks right? It’s not like it’s just wasting $ (most of the time).

six top airlines spent $47-billion buying their own stock over the last 10 years...that’s $47 billion they didn’t use to improve operations or efficiency, expand and grow the business or contribute to employee health plans, etc. and it’s $47 billion they don’t have now to survive a downturn. the reason for the downturn doesn’t matter. so it artificlially raises the share price, takes shares off the market, boosts earnings per share which boosts executive compensation. completely irresponsible and selfish. they retire in wealth and their employees, suppliers, vendors, etc. are crushed. and then they go begging the taxpayers to save them.
