The head of the emergency department at a Manhattan hospital committed suicide after spending days on the front lines of the coronavirus battle, her family said Monday.
“She tried to do her job, and it killed her,’’ Dr. Philip Breen told the New York Times of his physician daughter, Dr. Lorna Breen, who had been medical director of the NewYork-Presbyterian Allen Hospital amid the pandemic.
The battle-weary ER doctor, 49, was only the latest city healthcare worker to take her own life.

I wonder if we will ever learn just what is going on in NYC.
I feel sorry for her family. Weak people should not be in positions that stress them to the point of suicide. Didn’t family, friends, or co-workers notice?
That quote is from her father. If it were me, I’d cut him some slack.
I saw a link to a Video from a nurse—her friend went to NY to help out. Her friend asked her to get the word out—The protocols for treatment are not really the best to save the patients—negligent homicide at best was the way it sounded.
She had also recovered from coronavirus herself. NY hospitals should be doing more to look out for signs of PTSD.

It’s tough being a Doc.
You rarely hear about pediatric oncologists or heart specialists committing suicide and they see and deal with far worse. One my doctors was a regionally known geneticist and he committed career suicide as a way out. He downloaded child pornography and then went it IT to ask to scan his computer for viruses.
Being an ER Doc is NOT for snowflakes, one see’s the worst of the worst, not Unlike war zone associated PTSD. I’ve not known any suicides, but I have seen plenty of high risk and self destructive behavior. Maladaptive defense mechanisms with predictable consequences are pretty common.
SHE killed HERSELF. Any guilt over sending patients to infect nursing homes to spite Trump’s Mercy ship?

Laura ingrham i think it was had a show detailing hte fact that hospitals get more money if the corona patient goes on ventilators- in other words- giving the patient HCQ BEFORE they go on a ventilator isn’t as lucrative, so that could very well explain why cuomo made an executive order banning the use of HCQ until a person is on the ventilator when it’s too late for them-
Also- sending infected people into nursing homes assures that more are rushed to hospital in critical condition to be put on ventilators-
That seems to be what is goign on in NY

Of course there’s no history of mental illness. I don’t know a single doc who would voluntarily go see a shrink
That's one reason real Vermonters fought so hard not to be part of NY in the 1700s.
