Infectious disease expert slams NIH funded study that panned Hydroxychloroquine as COVID-19 treatment: 'It's a sham'
Fox News ^ | 04/28/2020 | Victor Garcia

Infectious disease expert Dr. Stephen Smith told "The Ingraham Angle" Monday night that a study published last week indicating the antimalarial drug hydroxychloroquine showed no benefit for coronavirus patients in U.S. veterans hospitals was a "sham."

"I've no idea why [University of Virginia School of Medicine opthamology professor Dr. Jayakrishna Ambati] delved into this study, which isn't a study. It's a sham," Smith said. "I can't believe anyone took this seriously. There's not one dosage listed, cumulative or daily, of hydroxychloriquine or anthromicin. And people call this a study."

The research, which was published in the medRxiv online depository and has not been peer-reviewed, analyzed the medical records of 368 male veterans hospitalized with confirmed coronavirus infection at Veterans Health Administration medical centers who died or were discharged by April 11.

About 28 percent of patients who were given hydroxychloroquine plus usual care died versus 11 percent of those getting routine care alone. About 22 percent of those getting the drug plus azithromycin died too, but the difference between that group and usual care was not considered large enough to rule out other factors that could have affected survival.

"Not one person in that paper saw one COVID patient. Only three are MDs [and] all [those] are ophthalmology trained," Smith said of the research. "It's a sham. It's a shame on UVA. I sent an email to the dean of the medical school at UVA. I have not heard back from them. It is an embarrassment that UVA allows this thing to be called a study."

“hydroxychloroquine” works.

It does not cure the virus, but it allows zinc to enter through the ACE2 receptors and the antibiotic kills secondary infections.

The rest is BS!

Can someone look up Dr. Jayakrishna Ambati’s political contributions?

If there is nay side effects, there is nay lawsuits.

Am I the only who has noticed that all these TV ads for various pharmaceuticals are basically 10 seconds of what symptoms they're supposed to mask and 50 seconds of side effects?

And all those drugs were approved by, wait for iiiiiiiiiit....THE FDA!

The FDA is a makework program for lawyers.

It was instructive how the media dropped their usual caveats about the study's "small sample," lack of rigorous controls, lack of peer-review, and its "anecdotal" nature in this case.

This sloppy "study" failed to satisfy even the minimal requirements of a small-scale study, ignored the HCQ protocols that have been recommended by other researchers and clinicians, yet was immediately trumpeted as conclusive proof of the ineffectiveness of HCQ in treating the CV, even though it contradicted many other studies using larger sample populations.

Not only that, but you could actually see the sense of glee and triumph in the reporters as they reported this purportedly bad news - "It's better that people die than that Trump be right."

He’s eminently qualified and his assessment that the study was a sham is spot on.

I saw this last nite on Ingram. The Dr said what the VA did was take the worst cases and do the study and said you have to do Hydrox with cases that are not at critical stage. Also said they didn’t do the study right, like other studies are done.

If you try Hydroxy, Zinc Zithro on a patient that is critical and near being placed on Vent, it won’t work.

The democrats have many “Cells” that click into action upon request. The fact that they want people to die from this virus is no surprise to me. This virus is way better for them than any October surprise. The democrats are the sole benefactors.
