Was the Wuhan bio-lab conducting research which was illegal to conduct in the United States?
If so, who , if anyone, in the US government knew that?
And if it was known by anyone in the US government, was it known at the time that $3.7 million was approved to the Chinese Communists to pay for the Wuhan laboratory?

Wow...that is an explosive public statement by POTUS. Expect this to erupt in the next few days.

Partially funded with a 3.7 million dollar grant from Fauci’s NIH. Let’s not forget Fauci doesn’t “work for” the NIH. He is the DIRECTOR.
I read an article that stated Fauci was conducting Corona Virus research here in the USA and that research was deemed so dangerous it was shutdown. So, that research shifted to China. To the Wuhan Virus research facility specifically.

As always, Trump knows way more than he is saying. He is smart enough to know not to compromise intel sources by revealing closely held information. When the time is right... just as he knows fully what is up with Kim but is not at liberty to announce it publicly.

We figured out in January it came from the Wuhan biolab, no surprise.

Why isn't everyone on FR talking about this? Did I miss a post on it? Because the Fearbros are starting to realize they been snookered.
And they are shamed into silence.
This whole things was a Derp State/China op in the ongoing shadow war. The invisible enemy that Trum constantly talks about isn't the flu. It's the Derp State.
Fearbros just haven't been listening correctly.
Because they have no Q.
Still time to catch up, if you hurry.

The lefty take on this seems to be that the president is claiming that the Wuhan lab engineered the virus: this is something that he explicitly did NOT say. I expect that the narrative over the next 48 hours will be a deliberate effort to build a straw man "Trump claims without evidence that virus was engineered", something that the Wuhan lab probably lacked the ability to do at this point. Then when it turns out that what Trump's been briefed on is that it's either a wild strain that had been collected by the lab, and accidentally released, or is a result of their much published "gain of function" research, the media can say "see, it's just an accident". I don't think that will work. What Trump did do, very effectively I thought was emphasize that regardless of the source, China was able to isolate Wuhan from the west of China, but did not isolate Wuhan from the rest of the world. THAT's where this turns on the CCP, and Trump was right to set the stage for that truth to become a topic of global public discussion over the coming weeks.

I think the issue of where the virus came from (be it the Wuhan Bioweapons lab, or their wet market) is less important than the issue of what they did after the virus was released into the wild.
Covering it up, and sending infected citizens across the world (particularly to Italy), was the bad part. Whether it was due to incompetence, or intentional - I don't know. This makes a big difference - but at a minimum a big issue is that the PRC covered up the virulence of this disease. If they spread it by intent - that, of course, is magnitudes worse - but nearly impossible to prove.
