New Georgia drivers can get a driver’s license without passing a road test — at least for the next two weeks.
In a little-noticed portion of Gov. Brian Kemp’s April 23 executive order allowing certain businesses to re-open, Kemp also ordered the state Department of Driver Services to suspend a requirement that teens and other new drivers must pass a road skills test before getting a new or upgraded license.
The exemption continues for the duration of Kemp’s state of emergency declaration, originally due to expire May 13 but recently extended to June 12.

Probably nothing, to be honest. The road tests are a formality, a complete joke. I truly believe you could abolish that (non-essential) government job and just give driver’s licenses to anyone coming in meeting age and “real ID” requirements and you wouldn’t see any real change in traffic statics.

I nearly flunked the driving part. The accompanying officer told me, “You finished the course in record time”.
A few years later, I took up auto racing. :)
Seems insurance companies will have a case for raising rates, with risks like that.

That testing is there for a reason. We go back over 50+ years with people having to prove they can drive. Perhaps there's a good reason for that.

I’ve known people who failed that “formality”....some more than once. They did not need to be on the road

about the same amount of stuff that goes wrong with the tests in place; I was failed on my driving test because I stopped at an intersection which had a stop sign turned halfway towards me; turns out I had the right of way, and the bastard nailed me on it...
The order is good until the 15th of May (two weeks)
He is trying to eliminate one on one contact with the state testers
All applicants will have to complete all requisite course work and permit driving requirements. Parent signature needed.
There was a large backlog and he is trying to lower it

I flunked my first driving test as the ‘tester’ dinged me 5 points for each infraction of ‘not using my turn signal.’ We were still in the car when he made this proclamation.
I was driving a Peugeot 504 wagon and he certainly was not knowledgable of vehicles with two stalks. The left stalk (which he assumed to be blinkers) activated the headlights and high beams (no floor pedal for high beams on this Frenchie). I showed him that the right stalk was the turn signal, “See. It works like this!” then I actuated both the right and left blinkers.
All to naught, as he said I hadn’t touched it either.
I disagreed with him on that one insisting that I had used it for each and every turn. His comeback was that I had NEVER touched the right stalk.
“Oh Yea?” You asked me to honk the horn didn’t you?”
“Of course”
“Reach over here and honk this cars horn then.”
He was reluctant at first but I was insistent. He reached over and touched then pressed harder and harder on the center part of the steering wheel.
“Here let me show ya,” I said (on the 504 the horn is activated by pulling the right stalk towards you) then I tooted the horn with the right stalk.
He left the car immediately as I had proven him to be an unobservant liar.

At our school you were "required" by the other students to report on the test path and where the tricks were.
The way people drive in South Florida I think they sell them during the blue light special at Kmart.
