In addition to the GOP demand for corporate liability protection, Democrats have demanded more assistance for cities and states, which McConnell says he won’t agree to without liability protections included...Multiple lawsuits have already been filed against businesses including Wal-Mart, nursing homes, insurers and others...Stephen Moore, a conservative economist who is a member of the White House council...“Here’s how I got the idea: I kept getting calls from employers, small business owners and people who run factories, who were saying, ‘It’s going to be really difficult even when we reopen to hire back workers if we have to worry about these lawsuits.’ One of them said, ‘Is there any way we can get an immunity clause from lawsuits?'” Moore recounted.

We knew the rats were going to be a problem with this. The f’n trial lawyers are the second largest contributors to the Democrats. If there is no protection the money chase will make the tobacco look like a kool aid stand

If lawyers attempt to sue anyone in the pandemic, well, let’s do what the Colonists used to do. Tar and feather them. Then post on social media. Quickly lawyers will get the hint.

It’s a complicated issue because I believe all (or most) tort/liability lawsuits are covered under state laws, not Federal law.

Big fight between businesses and labor unions. Lawyers make out either way.

There is a lot of pressure on businesses to reopen, get the economy moving again. But the business owners don’t want to be the fall guys, left holding the bag when employees get sick and sue.

On the other hand, the labor unions don’t want the states to go bankrupt and thus no longer liable to honor the labor union contracts.

So McConnell says fine, we’ll consider more aid to the cities and states if you give the businesses immunity from liability.

The lawyers? Well, if businesses can be sued, the lawyers make out. And if the states go bankrupt, lots of lawyers needed to represent the different interests.

Democrats have been holding the nation hostage. Now they want to turn that job over to the plaintiff’s bar. It’s a twofer. The economy stays in the toilet as dem lawyers sue every business that opens up and then donate a bunch of money to elect dems. It’s a dirty, filthy, rotten, corrupt mess.
