In addition to the GOP demand for corporate liability protection, Democrats have demanded more assistance for cities and states, which McConnell says he wont agree to without liability protections included...Multiple lawsuits have already been filed against businesses including Wal-Mart, nursing homes, insurers and others...Stephen Moore, a conservative economist who is a member of the White House council...Heres how I got the idea: I kept getting calls from employers, small business owners and people who run factories, who were saying, Its going to be really difficult even when we reopen to hire back workers if we have to worry about these lawsuits. One of them said, Is there any way we can get an immunity clause from lawsuits?' Moore recounted.

Demos always side on the way of trail lawyers. It’s why our healthcare cost are so great. Never will demos allows TORT REFORM. It’s the trial lawyers golden goose.
So now it’s Wapo by way of the Seattle Times, by way of CNN, by way of the Asspress? What a joke these commie mouthpieces are.
We knew the rats were going to be a problem with this. The fn trial lawyers are the second largest contributors to the Democrats. If there is no protection the money chase will make the tobacco look like a kool aid stand
They have to open with no restrictions from the CDC or the slip and fall lawyers will have a field day...
The CDC runs the country...Just look at the crap WalMart and Home Depot are doing...
We need ids that say we will take the chance let us do what ever..
If lawyers attempt to sue anyone in the pandemic, well, let’s do what the Colonists used to do. Tar and feather them. Then post on social media. Quickly lawyers will get the hint.
Could see this coming a mile away.
It’s a complicated issue because I believe all (or most) tort/liability lawsuits are covered under state laws, not Federal law.
Big fight between businesses and labor unions. Lawyers make out either way.
There is a lot of pressure on businesses to reopen, get the economy moving again. But the business owners dont want to be the fall guys, left holding the bag when employees get sick and sue.
On the other hand, the labor unions dont want the states to go bankrupt and thus no longer liable to honor the labor union contracts.
So McConnell says fine, well consider more aid to the cities and states if you give the businesses immunity from liability.
The lawyers? Well, if businesses can be sued, the lawyers make out. And if the states go bankrupt, lots of lawyers needed to represent the different interests.
I don’t see how you can prove that you got covid from your work place. ......an not from the gas station or the post office?
Ah we always says let’s do this or that but we don’t do much of anything except complain and make idle threats :)
Me too.
But if there’s someone we can all agree on hurtin if they show up is the folks that are gonna come knocking due to cellphone tracing for quarantines.
THOSE people will have a very dangerous job.
What we saw in Lansing is a hint of things to come. Stay tuned.
Democrats have been holding the nation hostage. Now they want to turn that job over to the plaintiff’s bar. It’s a twofer. The economy stays in the toilet as dem lawyers sue every business that opens up and then donate a bunch of money to elect dems. It’s a dirty, filthy, rotten, corrupt mess.
OSHA has already classified it as a workplace illness.
Businesses ain’t got no protections
