It started with FDR. Harry Dexter White, the father of the global economic system (father of the IMF and World Bank) was a Soviet agent. He was the assistant Secretary of the Treasury (actually Secretary due to Morgenthau’s incompetence). He helped staff many government agencies with Communists.
Yes, I often wonder if LBJ was channeling FDR.
And, later, the Soviet Union came running to us in WWII, in typical communist opportunistic fashion, *after* Germany attacked and decided it would be in their interest to join the Allies.
That led to no end of trouble after the war
We weren’t exactly bffs during the war, but, we sure gave them plenty of hardware, ie Lend-Lease.
Not everybody resumed their hostile stance toward the Soviets, once the war was over, unfortunately. Dumbass naval gazers and wildly overpaid Hollywood narcissists flung open the doors.
There was not a single American institution that wasn’t infested by communists. The Venona cables and 50 year Senate records prove that McCarthy was right. (*Blacklisted by History*).
I see President Trump as getting the McCarthy treatment. The differences are that the President is made of far sterner stuff than mere mortals, and he has a broad base of support.
The heirs of Soviet maggotry and useful idiots are still there and safe.
