I would love to hear the Fire Department radio traffic for the first hour or so of this conflagration.
You know it was a cluster f...lol
The report said that the first two companies in brought the fire under control. The closest two Fire Stations controlled the fire. Harrdee harr harr.
I wish no one ill will but this reminds me of the Bahrain International Hotel fire in the 90s. I was there in my room when I smelled smoke...ran into the hall and it was filling up with smoke. I ran down about 4 flights and told the desk crew. The just stood there. Myself and another guy ran back up and beat on doors to get folks out. The fire dept finally shows up and all ends well. The paper said thanks to the staff and the fire dept np one was hurt....lol
The quick response by Sharjah Civil Defence teams averted a major disaster, authorities said.
Based on the photo, it looks already like a disaster.
If that's averted, what the hell does a disaster look like?
it’s always the cladding. not the first and not the last. too expensive to fix, they usually say:
5 May: Aljazeera: Several injured as fire breaks out at UAE residential tower
At least seven people treated for minor injuries from the fire in the 48-storey Abbco Tower in Sharjah.
The UAE, including the skyscraper-studded emirate of Dubai, has suffered a spate of fires in its high-rises in recent years.
The reason for the blazes, building and safety experts have said, is the material used for the buildings’ sidings, called aluminium composite panel cladding.
While some types of cladding can be made with fire-resistant material, experts say those that have caught fire in the UAE and elsewhere were not designed to meet stricter safety standards and often were put onto buildings without any breaks to slow or halt a possible blaze.
