Gov. Lamont announces decision to close CT public schools for the rest of the academic year

Governor Ned Lamont Tuesday announced Tuesday that due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, he is ordering in-person classes at all K-12 public school facilities in Connecticut to remain canceled for the rest of the 2019-2020 academic year and continue providing distance learning during this period.

Schools will also be required to continue providing meals to children under the school lunch and breakfast programs for students at home.

...

“I know how important it is for so many students and teachers to finish out the school year, and I was holding out hope – particularly for high school seniors – that we’d at least be able to complete the final few weeks, but given the current circumstances and to protect everyone’s safety, it has become clear that it’s just not possible,” Governor Lamont said.

Once this was announced many of the Karen's locally started whining about how the seniors will get screwed by not having the traditional end of year academics and activities after all that work, many of these Karen's were/are the same ones screaming "shut it all down!!!! Save lives!!!!!!" a day ago.

It is sad that they will loose out because the MSM/DNC scared Karen.

Well, it won't hurt the kids. They learn nothing but Leftist propaganda in public brainwashing schools. The silver lining may be we all will realize we don't need public schools indoctrinating our children in the future. They don't learn truthful history, don't learn civics and their math doesn't make any sense anymore. They are taught fear of climate catastrophe and the evil of our European ancestors.

I guess they will still pay the unions for the non working teachers. Doubt they will refund the taxpayers for the schooling they paid for but did not deliver.

It is expensive to properly homes school your kids, tough when have to outlay all the cash for the kids and also send thousands to the schools who are not teaching your kids. But that is always how the Unions forced it on Home schoolers.

Welcome to the Suck.

Translation for those of you in Rio Linda; The quite profitable school cafeteria Will also be allowed to operate. Would not want to interrupt that Goobermint revenue stream.

All the Seniors who didn't attend classes for three months will be given diplomas; and all the teachers and non-teaching staff who did nothing for three months will be paid.

Yet K-12 kids are among the least likely to be infected folks, with cases numbers so low they are almost missing from the active cases.

If anything in society did not need be closed, it was the K-12 schools.

Yes, teachers and staff would need to wear masks and gloves, and janitor services would need to clean the facilities good every night. And no teacher or staff would be allowed to go or stay in school if they were ill, had a temp, or had a low blood oxygen level.

Sweden and others did not close their schools and there is no outbreak spike of the virus among their kids.
