Supreme Court says Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg underwent ‘non-surgical’ treatment for gallbladder condition
CNBC ^ | 05-05-2020 | AP

The Supreme Court on Tuesday said that Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg underwent non-surgical treatment for a benign gallbladder condition.

Bader was treated at Johns Hopkins hospital in Baltimore and is resting comfortably and plans to take part in Wednesday’s teleconference arguments, the court said.

The Supreme Court released the following statement:

“Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg underwent non-surgical treatment for acute cholecystitis, a benign gallbladder condition, this afternoon at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland. Following oral arguments on Monday, the Justice underwent outpatient tests at Sibley Memorial Hospital in Washington, D.C., that confirmed she was suffering from a gallstone that had migrated to her cystic duct, blocking it and causing an infection. The Justice is resting comfortably and plans to participate in the oral argument teleconference tomorrow morning remotely from the hospital. She expects to stay in the hospital for a day or two.”

I recall they put me on anti-biotic or some meds to see off the would stop it. I wa already admitted and they put the anti-b thru an IV drip.. Then the choice was laproscopic or traditional surgery. I had the lap. Got out 3 days earlier than I would have with regular surgery.

Ginsberg should be released from the hospital as soon as possible. Straight to a New York nursing home. As soon as possible.

I’m guessing she had an ercp. However ascending cholangitis is serious at any age. She is at very high risk

She'll do her best to hang on until after the November election, and after President Trump is reelected, she'll leave the bench.

On top of everything else the pathetic dems have to deal with (Biden as their candidate, the shallow, murky pool of vice president choices, Nancy and her appliance fetish, deblasio, Cuomo, etc.) Ruth Bader keeps threatening them she's gonna die and threatening us she's gonna live. I would have some pity on them, but I like popcorn too much 🍿

Take the pain pill.

People are having to put off hip surgery at this time and other things.

It isn’t like it is an abortion.

She really is going to avoid death until Trump is no longer President. That could be 5 years from now. Rats have a deep reservoir of hate that keeps the blood pumping as long as required.

Kind of like sitting judge Scalia dying and no one bothering to mention that in the call to report the dead body.

I looked it up - thanks.

Acute cholangitis carries a significant risk of death, the leading cause being irreversible shock with multiple organ failure (a possible complication of severe infections).[7] Improvements in diagnosis and treatment have led to a reduction in mortality: before 1980, the mortality rate was greater than 50%, but after 1980 it was 10–30%.[7] Patients with signs of multiple organ failure are likely to die unless they undergo early biliary drainage and treatment with systemic antibiotics. Other causes of death following severe cholangitis include heart failure and pneumonia.[22]

Risk factors indicating an increased risk of death include older age, female gender, a history of liver cirrhosis, biliary narrowing due to cancer, acute kidney injury and the presence of liver abscesses.[23]

Complications following severe cholangitis include kidney failure, respiratory failure (inability of the respiratory system to oxygenate blood and/or eliminate carbon dioxide), abnormal heart rhythms, wound infection, pneumonia, gastrointestinal bleeding and myocardial ischemia (lack of blood flow to the heart, leading to heart attacks).[22]

T-tube cholecystostomy — had a hot gall bladder. Probably needed drainage. With pancreatic CA ERCP would be risky

My gall bladder essentially fell apart from what the surgeon said.

What did the surgeon say that made your gall bladder fall apart? :)
