Barack Obama was for most of the nation an unknown. He had not been on the public stage and what little exposure he had was cleaned up by the media.
Newsome has a pubic record. A record that is still being written. If (and it is an almost impossible if), if he manages to turn California’s economy around he may have a chance.

He was mayor of San Francisco and he is the one who allowed the homeless population to explode and also use the streets as a bathroom.
He has stolen $1 billion without the state legislature knowing and he says he is buying 200 million masks from China thru June from a Chinese company that never has made masks before. No masks will be delivered in the quantity he says. I suspect money laundering. He will not give details on how the deal was made.
He has let out of prison thousands of criminals including 14 murderers. He employs Eric Holder who was involved with mass murder of approx 400 men, women, 16 children in Fast and Furious giving weapons to drug cartels.
He is locking down California as he pleases. Closed all beaches when 20,000 people showed up on a thursday, then 40,000 on a friday and 80,000 on the weekend at Newport beach. He was outraged and ordered ALL beaches in California closed. He got many complaints from cities up and down the state so they remained open except the one that defied him which was Newport beach.
He keeps moving the goalposts and stating which business can stay open. Now he says the state is closed until no more deaths for 2 weeks in a row. Meanwhile people are losing their savings and homes and cars and getting sick from worry.

I would agree Obama was an unknown, but only until the early months of 2008. Much was made about his ties to Jeremiah Wright, his radical upbringing, stint as “community organizer,” and the near-complete dearth of executive job experience... yet, (most of) the country enthusiastically elected him. It was an emotional bond with his supporters, completely unrelated to anything substantive. American voters do some really weird sh*t, so I’d hold off on stating someone like Newsom would “never” be elected President.

The DNC probably recognize how poisonous his reputation has become in California, and know they don't have to EVER have ANYONE on the top of the the card that hails from California in order to win California in a presidential election -- in fact, quite the reverse.
That goes for gays as well -- the only argument against the underachieved Buttplug from South Bendover is lack of experience, and the fact that most of the gay voters will vote for the D nominee. IOW, my buess is, Biden will pick an older running mate, probably in their 50s in age.
Seems farfetched but more likely he will be on the ballot in Nov than Biden!
The smartest Californians have already left the state. They escaped the Newsom crackdown. Smart Jews left Germany EARLY in the Hitler years. They escaped the Hitler crackdown.
Many left with just the clothes on their backs.

However, he won’t let nail salons reopen—claiming ‘The VIRUS Started There”.
I sure would like to see proof of that.
PERHAPS a salon customer or owner was the nearest they could trace to ‘Patient Zero”, but I sincerely believe that you cannot blame it on the nail salons.
Over 500,000 members of a cosmetology group are suing Newsom over this.
