Analysts forecast that growth will contract at a similar rate to rest of Europe.
Mickes, unlike most record shops in Europe, is still open for business. ...
But owner Micke Englund said that while he was happy his shop was not closed, his business had still been hit hard by Covid-19. When people became aware of coronavirus around March 12, we lost almost overnight 30 per cent. Its OK. For a couple of months, it will work. But after that it will be very, very tough, he said.

The lock down got people all on the same page at the same time. Except of course for the many essential businesses.
70% of business is better than 0% of business.
Article is a sham.
Boy, I bet that stung!
On the other hand, most retail shops near me lost 100%. Which is probably worse. But math isn't my strong suit.
The bird’s eye view does not reflect realities on the ground. When you, as an adult are free to choose which businesses you deem essential, you can support your favorite businesses, even at a lower than normal rate. You are also free to use more of one business (such as delivery services) and less of others (such as movie theatres), so the people choose the winners and losers, not the government.

Why would we expect any different? The economy here, for example, never shut down fully: they just moved the economic activity from restaurants to supermarkets.
So in Sweden the reallocation isn’t as sweeping, and the smaller businesses have more of a chance to survive the storm and revive afterward. Here is the Swedish advantage.
Who is your psychotherapist? You should get a new one.
Maybe not since the whole world’s economies are shrinking. but they are happier than we are!

If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.

And he did not pay me so much as a nickel to post his quote.
Financial Times is the equivalent of the Slimes in the finance world. A snooty rag run by leftists.
If the places I like to go out to eat at were open I’d be out to eat at them.
If my lady barber was open I’d go get a haircut.
Other than the above my daily routine has not changed since the lock down - check my PO Box, swing by the bank, get gas, buy food and go to the tobacco shop.
Been to the garden center a few times also.
Plenty of people in all those places every day.
Does the author/poster really believe that there is no economic benefit to keeping the 10 to 20% who work in "non-essential" businesses open? Did the author/poster interview anybody who's business will never re-open because scaremongers shut them down?
Or does the author/poster simply chug whatever CNN pees?
Sweden’s population is less than that of Ohio, but Sweden has more cases.
Yes. Customers are avoiding business environments that might get them infected. That’s also noticeable here, in the States. Smarter managers are implementing and advertising practices that keep customers from being infected.
Things are going to change, and we can’t stop that.
Most convenience, vice, tourism and entertainment business owners here are obviously so much in debt, that they couldn’t stand losing 30% of their revenues.
While this is an attempt to destroy any plan to open anywhere, in the case of Sweden if they don’t benefit from opening it won’t be from violating liberal rules - they are liberals after all, it will be because they foolishly give all their money to the Muslims who have come to murder them.
That’s true.
Case in point.
CVS has been sending offers to deliver when my prescriptions are ready. So I signed up, Monday
Got a notice later that day that USPS had picked up the order. Two days later (today) it’s in my house mailbox. And I even got a confirmation notice it had been delivered.
No fee for the delivery.
Saved me a 1.5 hour round trip drive and 4 gallons of gas.
Didn’t have to go into a pharmacy to pick it up at all.
The CVS was near work. And I work from home now. And there is not one out here.
I don't think so. But it does make the case which I've been saying since the lock downs were first announced, that the lock down's aren't the reason the economy tanked. The virus is the reason.
Lock downs just coordinated the shut down with the hope we would be able to reopen with more consumer confidence. Not sure that goal was achieved, but there were other goals achieved, including flattening the curve and getting therapeutics evaluated and in place.
You are truly a coward.
Nope - those who went full panic mode insured we would shut down way more than was useful to anyone....pat yourself on the back because you helped.
