Presumptive 2020 Democratic nominee Joe Biden bumbled his way through a ‘virtual roundtable’ he hosted on Thursday afternoon, as questions regarding the former Vice President’s mental acuity continue to mount. Concern of Biden’s mental sharpness has been the subject of constant debate ever since he launched his White House bid last April, following a number of blunders he's made during televised interviews and campaign speeches in the months since. And the self-proclaimed ‘gaffe machine’ did little to mitigate those apprehensions during a monologue about soaring unemployment levels on Thursday, in which he wrongly claimed 85,000 jobs have been lost in the US as a result of COVID-19, and millions of Americans have died.

Unfortunately, eight years later, Americans are reported to view communism and socialism a lot more favorably than in 2008. Perhaps their taste of totalitarian control these few months may awaken people to the dangers.

If this shutdown and destruction of the economy continues indefinitely (here in California that appears to be the case), people will need these government handouts just to survive. They will view socialism more favorably only because they need the 'stimulus' cash to put food on the table and pay the rent or mortgage. Also, many hourly workers who were laid off are getting more unemployment money than they made in their jobs (the extra $600/week in federal payments). They may need that money and a lot more if their jobs no longer exist due to company bankruptcies and closings. Retail will be destroyed at the end of this, for example.

Your ‘conspiracy theory’ basically lines up with my own thoughts on the situation. We have to remember that President Trump won the 2016 election on the basis of extremely narrow victories in four battleground states. Wisconsin, Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Florida were all won by the thinnest of margins. Just a few thousand votes the other way in each state and we would have had Hellary. That being said, I think his support is stronger this year and he has a good chance of picking up some additional states that normally go to the Democrat.

He actually said ‘billions’ of deaths before correcting it to millions. He has a pattern of plugging wrong numbers into his statements. Remember he claimed that 150,000,000 Americans had died from gun violence since 2007. No person with his wits about him could make errors of such magnitude.
