Although there were folks that did not want to get involved in a European conflict, there were those who only needed a reason, true or false, to go “over there” again.
Churchill had an easy task on that matter.
Hitler, a slav hating maniac, signs a non aggression pact with Russia. What could go wrong with that? Of course, invading Russia while the allies are preparing for an invasion was brilliant also.
