Mass. Governor Targets Churches For Shutdown Rules He Didn’t Apply To Home Depot
The Federalist ^ | 15 May A.D. 2020 | Carol McKinley

On March 23, Massachusetts Gov. Charles Baker declared a public health emergency relating to COVID-19. He created a list of businesses and organizations he believes provide “essential services” and ordered all non-essential businesses to cease in-person operations. Constitutional freedoms derived from the Bill of Rights are not among the list of essential services, including the freedom to worship according to our consciences.

In Massachusetts, I can stand in a line of 200 people at a liquor store to buy a bottle of Maker’s Mark, but I am not afforded the same reasonable accommodations in the same-sized building across the street to receive the Sacraments of my salvation as a practicing Roman Catholic...

....Timelines in Massachusetts are even more disturbing. A recent webinar conducted by Cardinal Sean O’Malley of Boston predicted compliance with Baker’s orders would delay a return of religious civil liberties “two years or more.”

Alleged milestones that “must be met for any consideration of opening up” include a complete eradication of any symptom present in any kind of influenza and requirements for priests to set up “robust medical facilities” in every parish to take temperatures and conduct immunity testing. Even after meeting criteria of all three phases of the federal COVID response team, Sacraments may not resume due to the possibility of reactivation and resurgence. O’Malley speculated that “parish closures would go on forever.”

[Governor]Baker is expected to announce his plan of reopening on May 18. If there are any restrictions on religious liberties that are not imposed upon secular activities, a motion for a preliminary injunction will swiftly follow seeking to restrain an unconstitutional overreach of power.

Glad I dont live on east coast or west coast.. they have a whole different idea of life and what’s good for America.

Warped thinking!

Beautiful country on both coasts.. but filled with elite snobs that know nothing worthwhile.

Just like the gym owner in jersey that is defiantly opening his doors, I have a membership, there are no walk ins, I know each and every member, we have re arranged our gym equipment its socially distanced., unlike Walmart, home depot who allow hundreds of customers in they dont personally know. How fair is that

Like their idols in Communist China the Dems totally disdain religion. Religious people "cling to their Bibles" and are drooling hillbillies who have oudoor toilets. Not like the brainy, sophisticated atheists in college.

I am sorry for the naive people who still vote Dem but are religious believers. After January, 2021 they will see it was too late. Leftists don't tolerate people not like themselves. Churches and synagogues will soon become strip clubs, marijuana places or warehouses. Hitler made some into parking garages. Others he burned down.

unlike Walmart and Home Depot...

I wonder how they can justify the Walmart People viral videos of extremely heavy women grappling and punching each other and knocking over stock from shelves. Certainly not traditional social distancing wrasslers.

Time to open up.

And yes Lefties, that means churches too.

You can get yourself a crying cloth and spend a few days
working out your issues.

Churches have been close too long already.

Keep your stinking paws off our beliefs.

A great Boston talk show host,Howie Carr, gave Baker the nickname Tall Deval some time ago.IMO Tall Deval needs another beatdown like the one he received from a Federal judge just last week ordering that gun shops be allowed to open.

As important as the 2nd Amendment is I think the 1st is a bit more important...

What stage is the investigation into AJ Baker at? AJ Baker was reported by the Boston Globe that AJ Baker, son of Governor Baker, was drunk and sexually molested a sleeping woman on an airplane coming into Logan Airport?

Governor Baker was very animated attacking Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh. How can it be then, that the case against AJ Baker, who sexually molested a woman on an airplane, just disappeared?

Today Howie called MA. Lastachusetts. He said that it was pretty sad when NY and NJ are opening up faster than our state. I think the arrogance of Baker to tell people that he won’t announce his plans a day before the 18th is unbelievable. I predict he’ll open nothing more.
My son works in Boston and is working from home . His company has decided that’s the way it will remain. Despite having a 7 year lease ,in a new property ,the company has decided that by everyone staying home they’ll save plenty.
My son thinks this is going to become the norm and Boston real estate and rent is going To crater.
Baker and Walsh deserve everything that’s coming.

Tucker just had a sportswriter on that was instrumental in getting golf courses open. According to him, Baker’s entire task force is made up of Democrats. That’s encouraging...not.

I'm a lifelong resident (except for time in the Army) of the Gay State. As such I'm familiar with the political importance of the annual Saint Patrick's Day Breakfast...which every important politician in the state attends every year.

IIRC it was last year when Tall Deval joked during the breakfast that he was "1% Irish and 1% Republican".He's stopped even pretending to be a Republican...so *of course* all of his advisers are Rats!

Separation of church and state. Why did the Pilgrims come to the U. S.??

Because the government of England was trying to dictate their religion!
