Republican 'Superstar' Melissa Melendez Wins Special Election for California Senate

With all the attention focused Tuesday on Republican Mike Garcia’s smashing win in the special U.S. House election in California’s 25th District (Los Angeles), it was not surprising that the national press pretty much overlooked the big Republican win for state senate in the Golden State’s 28th District (Riverside).

With nearly all votes counted, conservative State Assemblywoman Melissa Melendez rolled up 56 per cent of the vote over Democrat and Riverside County Board of Education member Elizabeth Romero.

The special election was called to fill out the remainder of the term of Republican State Sen. Jeff Stone, who resigned earlier this year to become regional director of the U.S. Department of Labor. Melendez's winning percentage was four percentage points above that of Stone in his last trip to the polls.

“Assemblywoman Melendez was and is a superstar public servant,” California State GOP Chairman Jim Brulte told Newsmax, “She will serve her constituents well.”

A U.S. Navy veteran who earned her college degree nights from Chaminade University of Honolulu, Melendez flew on covert missions in Iraq during Operation Desert Storm and became fluent in Russian.

Nice story but California is hopeless.

Baby steps, and perception. Right now, the perception is that the Democrats want to become the new Khmer Rouge, while the Republicans want us to be free. Since perception is 90% of reality, let's just ride this thing to November.

“Melendez became one of the first women approved by the U.S. Navy to fly aboard EP-3 reconnaissance aircraft overseas, conducting reconnaissance and intelligence gathering operations in partnership with our allies.”

AFB as you know there are millions of us who have never stopped fighting here deep behind enemy lines. The dismissive ness of our FRiends outside the state becomes tiresome. So, getting back those 7 House seats that were stolen from us last time wouldn’t help get back the House? I’d remind everyone that more people voted for Trump here than constitute the entire population of the 25 least-populous states. Of our 58 counties, 6 have rat majority registration. No majority in the other counties due to the high number of independents, but of the remaining 52, exactly half, 26, with a total population of 6.3 million, have republican plurality.

We’re not exactly a republican stronghold (like we used to be) but simply writing off this state as useless is a mistake. Every resource needs to be brought to bear and no resource should be written off

How does one become fluent in Russian by flying covet missions over Iraq? Can one become fluent in Chinese while flying over South Africa? Journalists, pffph! Perhaps Gizzi could learn English while flying over the Antarctic? Nah.

Perhaps she stopped off at DLI Monterey for 1.5 years first to learn Russian before she was assigned to Iraq?

Gonna be hard to gin-up the votes and extra-extra voters if the students are not clustered on campus.

That might work for our side.

If I HAD to guess she probably wasn’t flying in anything but rather augmenting a ground-based unit somewhere below.

I worked in several places that had AF and Squids doing the same thing in different parts of the building.

The rest of these are largely from the Partisan Media Shills Update desk, but I wanted to call attention to this win:

“MI Ping
Covert missions over Iraq and learned Russian.

Maybe NSG?”

Inverted facts, no doubt. Learned Russian first then covert mission because of Russian pilots. I don’t see any reason that it was Navy.

The "A U.S. Navy veteran" in the post 1 might be an indicator.
