She was probably what we used to call the Air Dale Navy Security Group, not a pilot, with a Top Secret Crypto clearance. They flew over and around listening and monitoring chatter from the unfriendliest.
The fact that she was a Russian lingy flying in Iraq air space will get a big fat “NO COMMENT” from me.
Thanks
So what did the Navy fly for that mission? E-2Cs? P-3s?
Correct. That is exactly what she was and it was a hard job too. Listening to most Russian radio traffic is worse than any bad Hinglish radio station ever thought about being.
A large quantity of Russian military words are transliterations of English words into Russian and they sound horrific.
We are always so crystal clear in most of our radio traffic that we have to use crypto. Theirs is so bad even their own people can’t catch it sometimes.
