A national holiday-just for cops-would raise the appreciation level.
I live less than 2 hours from there and have heard things about that PD before but disbanding?....that’s certainly a bit of a reach.
Those 2 are in jail, what the heck else do they want?
It sounds like the PD there (which is probably pretty tiny) did have problems. Still, if the two men who were responsibe for Arbery’s death had simply called the cops and not tried to do a “citizen arrest” of somebody whose gravest crime seems to have been looking into a building site, Arbery would still be alive.
The PD probably does need improvement to restore confidence, but not dissolution.

Since the cops were not involved in this....I am not sure what it would accomplish. It seems to me the DA would be the one in question. Aren’t those elected offices?

The call should be for more police so people don’t feel the need to police for themselves.

Won’t make a big difference; the “good” sections will institute a neighborhood watch. The “bad” sections will continue to prey upon one another.
There is also a police department in the incorporated town of Brunswick as well as a county sheriffs department.Very few places have both a county police and sheriffs department.
It should call for black criminals to stop breaking the law and attack those trying to enforce the laws.
What did what happened have to do with the police? The prosecutors office seems to have a problem. If the do disband the police how about making it a free fire zone? This crap sends me over the top. Nothing but a bunch of race baiting garbage. See if you are against reparations then you are a racist. I abhor that comparison. The last slave was freed over 150 years ago. If there is still one alive pay them. If not GFY.

Arbery was attempting to burglarize the home. He was the prime suspect in numerous burglaries and thefts in that neighborhood. I see nothing wrong with an ex cop trying to impede a fleeing felony.

If Arbery had kept on running instead of crossing over, he might still be alive. They sure as hell weren’t going to shoot him in the back....or even shoot him at all....since he was unarmed.
In every documented case of a municipality that is not a large urban area, crime rate goes DOWN when municipal cops are abolished.
If they want to perpetuate vigilance committees then this would be the perfect thing to do. Sheesh! Talk about “contrary to one’one’s own interests!”
