If Israel goes ahead with this, it would be a serious blunder. Forget Jordan. Most of the rest of the world is opposed to it and it is blatantly illegal under international law. Israel would be surrendering the moral high ground and likely would end up isolated with the US as the only major power supporting them. And that could end with the arrival of the next POTUS either in January or four years from now.

What is “international” law??

Israel will be criticized regardless of anything they do or don’t do. Who’s going to stop them? Who really cares?

Didnt Russia recently annex the Crimea? Does anyone really care?

Baloney. Israel ceded that land to the Paliscumians, who have done NOTHING but use the proximity of the land to harm Israeli citizens. Time to take back what never should have been given away. If Israel surrendered to every other country who took offense at their very existence, there would be no Israel. Israel never has to worry about "surrendering moral high ground"; they are scrupulous about limiting the actions of their military to militants and make every attempt to spare women and children. Now tell me of the Palescumians' "moral high ground" when they sneak into Israel to murder innocents, including children and attacks on schools.

The West Bank is both historically, and legally part of Israel. I don’t grasp how you or anyone else can claim otherwise unless you ignore history.

The important thing is that Israel can annex whatever they want right now and Trump would support it. Once they have done it then the rest of the world can say what that want and it won't change a thing. Even future U.S. administrations can't take divide Jerusalem or get Israel to un-annex anything.

The law is written by the winners. Jordan et al lost and suffer the consequences. Israel foolishly gave the losers back Gaza and look what happened. Next time Israel will probably cross the Jordan and take half or all of Jordan.

The US is currently the only major ally supporting Israel, so what have they to lose by retaking Biblical lands from foreigners?

Wow. You’ve opened a can of worms there. But you do make some good points. Israel has an historic claim to the West Bank. And Germany has an historic claim to East Prussia. Is one claim more valid than the other? Maybe what matters is force of arms, and not claims.

Anyway, I am a strong supporter of the state of Israel. A good part of the world will hate them no matter what they do. But I do wonder about the Palestinians on that annexed land. Will be they given Israeli citizenship, and the right to vote in - and tilt - Israeli elections? If so, that might be the greatest danger.
