A silver lining to this pandemic is that now more parents are learning about their options outside the government system.

Government, Schools Out Forever!

...said Rebell, home schooling is still worse because "there's no effective regulation to know what's going on."

Ummmm..., where do you think, Mr. Rebell, that you have the right to "know what's going on"? Hmmmm?...

The people who shut down schools and refuse to open them are suddenly worried about children not learning?

The left is in a real dilemma here. If they reopen schools, then there is no reason that parents can't get back to work, even if they are employed in "non-essential businesses." If parents get back to work, then there is no reason the economy won't start to recover.

Plus they would have a real problem with their teachers union constituency if they ask their teachers to go back to work before the parents do so.

The strategy now is to delay the recovery as long as they possibly can to harm the economy and enhance their dictatorial powers. By doing so, they will ensure that some businesses will never recover.

Seems schools for those who need special help makes sense...the rest, not so much

Fewer kids in public school, less money going for public school, less property taxes going for public school.

Win all around.

Teachers could do tutoring, like at the Kumon storefronts; only remotely.

Administrators could run the business side of the tutoring.

Government Schools and Big Media Companies — at least two of the things which need to be outlawed.

from a public school teacher -

As a result of recent events the kimono is being pulled back on "Big Education" - and that's a good thing.

This is a unique opportunity for reforms/improvements/etc.

Burn it down and start over couldn't be worse...

Yup. Education is a wonderful thing, and actual educators deserve praise. But that’s not what we have these days.
