Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, a Democrat, continues to allow nursing homes to admit COVID-19 positive patients even though nursing home residents make up 81 percent of all coronavirus deaths in the state.

No state has a higher percentage of COVID-19 deaths from nursing home residents than Minnesota.

The Star-Tribune reported the details on Thursday:

State health officials and long-term care industry representatives have defended the practice of discharging some COVID-19 patients to nursing homes, saying it is part of a broader strategy to conserve critical hospital beds during the pandemic. Long-term care facilities can provide treatment for coronavirus patients who still need care, but have stabilized enough that they no longer require hospitalization, officials said.

Him, officials must be thinking that this is a good idea.

Pls forgive me if my post is wrong; I can’t see it, the original text, on my cell phone.

What I mean is, they figure that they might as well put all the dead and dying together

It’s just more convenient.

That’s now five states, all Democrat governors. Virginia will be six.

The State of Mn. gets paid by the Feds for treating Covid 19 patients by putting them in nursing homes no matter how many elderly die as the result of their actions. It generates income for Mn. no matter how many elderly die as a result of their actions. Cuomo wrote the play book.

MN has 4800ish active cases. So where’s the hospital bed shortage?

I looked up the CDC guidelines. Transfer to nursing homes is permitted if the patients are kept in a separate area, with separate and dedicated HCW, who have their own restroom and break room. No mixing of HCW with different patients. No mixing of patient groups. And the nursing home has to be able to accommodate all of the above and some more recommendations on top of all that. It’s not a ‘deal with it’ situation being recommended at all. The Governors are lying or they can’t read English.

Both Medicare and Medicaid changed the regs back in March so that facilities that needed to could refuse to take back patients.

Why are facilities accepting them if they can’t adequately isolate the patients?

Is the state bribing them? Threatening them?

Especially since I’ll bet this is about Medicaid costs.
