DOJ has already been working with churches. Nap seems to be behind.

Governors don’t have the authority to lock down Churches in the first place

LBJ marched the NG into Alabama to enforce civil rights.
Hopefully, it won’t come to that in this case....but then again, these communists are outright rabid power mad...so it might.

He has them boxed in. The Dem governors now either publicly “obey Trump”, OR they start a big loud fight right before the election to demand they be allowed to close churches.

He is the master at putting flaming bags of dog crap on their porch. And they always come out and stomp on them!

State-state of emergencies, and a national emergency.

He has a lot of powers that he’s not exercising.

“as essential as is the right to worship, as fundamental as it is — as absolutely protected by the First Amendment as it is, the president does not have any authority to override the governors,” “

The 14th amendment means the 1st cannot be abridged by the state. Trump will act, and just before an election, the Governors will sue him and fight for the right to close churches. OR... they can be seen as bending to his will. Either way, they lose.

Trump can over-ride because it is a violation of the First Amendment to prohibit the practice of ones religion, and the president can step in on solid ground for protecting the First Amendment.

Trump is critical of the church bans, but he need not do anything more to get the public to respond, in larger and larger numbers, and with more passion and resolve.

These conspiratorial totalitarian wannabee govs are the ones in the wrong, as they do not have standing or the right to deny their citizen’s First Amendment Rights. Lawsuit after protest after voluble agitated denunciation will follow, hardly what an incumbent gov needs in an election year. And if they are not up for re-election, a recall movement can be started in earnest, as the summer has just begun!

Talk about hair splitting. The AG works for the POTUS. If the POTUS says “these states are violating civil rights, sue them” the AG will do it, and the states will lose. It’s not a question of “ordering” anyone. The bully pulpit should work quite well but when it doesn’t that is why the DOJ has a civil rights division.

Have DOJ go after states on violation of First Amendment. That IS Trump telling states to churches up.

The President wants the churches open but he also said he wants them to follow CDC guidelines issued today. Is everyone down with that?

The CDC guidelines issued Friday lay out a series of recommendations for houses of worship around social distancing, cleaning practices and using face covers. They also suggest limiting shared items like hymnals or communion cups and stress the need for a plan should someone become ill.

I would love to see federalized National Guard troops guarding churches, keeping the local and State LEO out.

VERY bad optics if the progs try to usurp the First Amendment.

18 U.S. Code § 242.Deprivation of rights under color of law Whoever, under color of any law, statute, ordinance, regulation, or custom, willfully subjects any person in any State, Territory, Commonwealth, Possession, or District to the deprivation of any rights, privileges, or immunities secured or protected by the Constitution or laws of the United States, or to different punishments, pains, or penalties, on account of such person being an alien, or by reason of his color, or race, than are prescribed for the punishment of citizens, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than one year, or both; and if bodily injury results from the acts committed in violation of this section or if such acts include the use, attempted use, or threatened use of a dangerous weapon, explosives, or fire, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than ten years, or both; and if death results from the acts committed in violation of this section or if such acts include kidnapping or an attempt to kidnap, aggravated sexual abuse, or an attempt to commit aggravated sexual abuse, or an attempt to kill, shall be fined under this title, or imprisoned for any term of years or for life, or both, or may be sentenced to death. (June 25, 1948, ch. 645, 62 Stat. 696; Pub. L. 90–284, title I, § 103(b), Apr. 11, 1968, 82 Stat. 75; Pub. L. 100–690, title VII, § 7019, Nov. 18, 1988, 102 Stat. 4396; Pub. L. 103–322, title VI, § 60006(b), title XXXII, §§ 320103(b), 320201(b), title XXXIII, § 330016(1)(H), Sept. 13, 1994, 108 Stat. 1970, 2109, 2113, 2147; Pub. L. 104–294, title VI, §§ 604(b)(14)(B), 607(a), Oct. 11, 1996, 110 Stat. 3507, 3511.) I wonder if arrests for violation of an illegal or, in cases of state gov EOs, imaginary laws, counts as kidnapping? But, whether yes or no on that question, our Constitutional Rights don't end where the fear porn panic mongered self inflicted fear begins.

I just can’t resist complaining about the Fox News website - at least the way it shows up on an my iPad.

Ads, links to other articles with ads, drop downs that pop in and out, ads interspersed with what you had believed be an actual topic discussion, video pop-ups ...

Enough. At least for me. I click on the links to articles on Fox News and many others like it web design-wise less and less often. I stick to those that have what used to be called “Articles”.
