Voices From The Tomb

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qwP1W4aWZEQ

Montgomery College was granted special behind-the-scenes access to the Tomb Guards and Arlington National Cemetery in order to capture the painstaking preparation and rigorous testing that each Tomb Guard must undergo. The documentary features interviews with Tomb Guards from the past and present as well as rare photographs, never before seen by the public. “Voices from the Tomb” was produced in collaboration with The Society of the Honor Guard — Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, a non-profit organization with current and former Guards as members.

Established in 1921, The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier honors the men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for the United States in times of war. In the beginning, a civilian watchman stood guard during the cemetery’s open hours. A military guard took over duties in 1926, but it was 11 more years before the post evolved to guarding the Tomb 24 hours a day, seven days a week, rain or shine. Today, Tomb Guards are members of the Army’s 3rd U.S. Infantry Regiment.

Howdy, EGC! (((hugs)))

Hope the weather didn’t get too rough last night. We were supposed to get strong storms, but they melted away before they even got here.

Have fun at the lake today, you two! Thanks for the pics. I really like that close up!

Hugs Luv,
Things could be worse, but I suppose GI Jams is history. It’s gonna be a long time before a room full of folks in a hospital can share microphones without setting someone’s hair on fire, and I doubt I’ll live long enough to see the day.

I’m conflicted (and sad) that I’m going to postpone Mikey’s summer visit this year (due June 4), but I’m really not comfortable with the way things are right now and there’s not much we can do if he did come (Lazer Tag, Amusement Parks, playgrounds, movies, Chuckey Cheese and even Dairy Queen are verboten). There’s also a chance that after a month or so here - things could deteriorate and I couldn’t get him back to WV. There’s just too many things that could go wrong, not to mention the care and feeding of a 15 year-old. Last year he was putting away a gallon of milk a day (and it’s more expensive than gas)! I just replaced our water heater which blew a hole in my VA pension - but, the Wuhan Virus check made up some of the difference, but times are tight.
Wow, it’s hard to believe that almost 15 years ago I was here posting pictures of my newborn from the delivery room! Time - where does it go? You stay safe dear, and thanks for the shout-out and all you’ve done for us over the years.

Really late, but thanks, Drumbo, for the Memorial Day tunes for our troops. ((HUGS))

Hope things are opening up for your state and you can work your way back to the old normal.

A little late, but thanks, Songcraft, for trying again. They both played for me, and even when youtube says they are going to stop supporting my IE. d:o)

Wow, Kathy, I hadn't heard how youtube wasn't going to support IE anymore.   That stinks.

I've been using Microsoft Edge for a while, and, so far, youtube seems to work there, but it has been very slow and sort of temperamentally goofy lately, so I don't know what's going on there.

I'm open to any "browser" suggestions from others, as long as they're not too complicated to set up or use, or too expensive!        :-)

For these FR music threads, are you trying to get people away from posting "youtube" songs?   Is there another web site you could recommend that features lots of different kinds of songs, like youtube does, which could be used for posting songs for these music threads?

Best of luck with your situation there, Kathy.   Hope it all works out good for you.

No, no, no...youtube is great for lots of folks, and allows lots of people to participate with tunes they choose. So, please keep posting youtube tunes.

I just like IE and every time I click a youtube link the message pops up...you are using an outdated browser and we will no longer be supporting IE. I have been dragged into using Windows 10, and am slowly being dragged into Edge (which so far I hate)....old people don't like change. LOL!
