Nice to finally get a decent night’s sleep, wasn’t it? It HAS been pretty wild in your part of the country lately.
We had a rain-free day for the first time in a week, though the western half of the state got a drenching. They say we’ll probably get wet later today though.

Gizmo seems to have enjoyed his fun in the sun yesterday.

In March 1941 he received his wings and a commission in the U.S. Army Air Corps after graduating from advanced flight school at Maxwell Field, Alabama.

My son went to Air Force Officer Training School, at Maxwell AFB, Alabama, about 13 months ago, and just got his Air Force pilot wings, earlier this month, at Randolph AFB, TX. 👍

I’ve had to run it back to watch any of it because I’ve been away from the computer a lot tonight. That’s fine. I can skip the lulls and enjoy the strong waves. :-)

Hello, Canteener FRiends.

It was Memorial Day, 14 years ago now, when I was in Ramadi reporting from the rich bottom-lands of the Euphrates River valley.

It was fourteen years ago when I got the news that Momma had suddenly passed - and that Freepers were holding a vigil waiting for me to check in, and working behind the scenes to help.

Many years, lives, miles and hardships have come and gone since then. Skyraider left five years after Momma. I knew darker times than the war.

But the Canteen has always been here.

Thank you, on behalf of myself, and those who cannot speak the words.

Mom and Dad are both in the National Cemetery in Bourne. I don’t know if it is open, but in any case, Blue is out of commission and Penny is not allowed.

Penny and I will be going over to my sister’s house.
