Howdy, Sarge.
Has it been that long ago? Time sure has a way of getting away from us, doesn’t it?
My memory stinks a lot of the time but I still remember the video chat we had while you were there.
In good times and bad, we’re here to serve. Glad we were able to help out in some small ways over the years.
*HUGZ*
"I am an American fighting man. I serve in the forces guarding our country and our way of life. I am prepared to give my life in their defense." |
Today is the day of remembrance, and to honor those who have given their lives in the service to our country;
Those who sacrificed in wars in the armed services, and in todays world, those who gave their lives trying to save others during the pandemic.
If ever a time should come, when vain and aspiring men shall possess the highest seats in Government, our country will stand in need of its experienced patriots to prevent its ruin. Samuel Adams
A true story about 19 Marines killed in the Gilbert Islands in 1942 (defending against the Japanese). They had to retreat, so they asked the islanders to please bury their dead so the Japs couldnt find them. Years later, they checked and found a man who had been a teenager then and remembered where they were buried. They sent a C130 and an honor guard over there and found all 19 had been buried with their helmets on, their rifles in their hands, in perfect condition. The islanders had really done a wonderful job. As they were loading the bodies, a voice from out of nowhere started singing The Marine Hymn”..........gave everyone goose bumps. Turns out, the voice was from a man who spoke no English but remembered a song the Marines taught him when they landed. Very touching. They got all 19 and their photos are at the end. This of course was WW II! IF YOU HAVEN’T SEEN THIS - BE SURE YOU’RE SITTING DOWN. THIS ONE OF THOSE GESTURES FOR WHICH THERE ARE NO WORDS.

Veterans suffer at hands of Californias Governor in his latest disgusting action
Radical leftist Governor Gavin Newsom and his socialist majority in Sacramento have made sure to take advantage of the crisis to advance their socialist vision.
And its the people of California who are suffering.
But, not content to merely shut down the economy, force thousands of businesses to leave the state, and force hard-working taxpayers to fund drug fueled parties for the homeless, Gruesome Newsom has gone even farther.
And this time his actions will directly hurt those men and women who gave their life to defending the very freedoms Newsom is stripping away from Californians.
The Golden State socialist wonder boy decided to shut down a veterans nursing home and giving the money allocated to the veterans, estimated to be about $80 million, instead to illegal aliens in California.
Thats right, illegal aliens, many of whom are hardened criminals and gang members, will be receiving money that was meant for Americas finest our veterans.
Newsoms plan is to give direct cash payments from the veterans money to illegals in California who werent eligible to receive any money from the massive federal coronavirus stimulus packages.
After finding out about the scheme, Judicial Watch, a conservative government watchdog group initially requested a temporary restraining order to stop Newsom from taking hard-earned taxpayer dollars from the veterans who fought for our country.
There is a new RECALL effort against Fuhrer Newsom, please share viral.
The old Code of Conduct, the ORIGINAL Code of Conduct I first knew as an 18yo boy about to become a man.
Not the emasculated soy-version of forty years on.
Check Six, Conor.
Third attempt at a reply...my first two seem to have disappeared.
I remember those times....the Canteen is a family. ((HUGS))
Hope you and yours are managing well during this mess.
