NY Times on Memorial Day Weekend: US Military celebrates white supremacism

As Americans reeling from coronavirus stay-at-home orders struggle to celebrate the nation's heroes on Memorial Day, The New York Times published an editorial over the weekend that claims the U.S. military celebrates white supremacy.

On Sunday, The New York Times Editorial Board published the piece titled “Why Does the U.S. Military Celebrate White Supremacy?” The editorial made the argument that it’s time to rename military bases after “American heroes, not racist traitors.”

Pentagon spokesman Jonathan Rath Hoffman tweeted Sunday night in response: “On a solemn day for remembering those that have given their lives for our country fighting against tyranny and subjugation, the NYT has more than a million possible stories of the ultimate sacrifice by American patriots that they could tell. But they don’t.”

Right on cue, as we honor and remember our war dead this Memorial Day weekend, the NY SLIMES comes out with another hate piece against America's Military, and this was by the Editorial Board, not some anonymous guest blogger.

Similar to Democrats still wanting slavery on their plantations?

Southern generals were patriots to their States, and it’s doubtful that they were any more “racist” than most of their Northern counterparts.

They’re cute when they say that. Fact is that the US is a European nation. Wealthiest in the history of the world. Asians and hispanics didn’t contribute? Somebody is peeing on our leg. Waiting for them to tell me us it’s raining. So acknowledge one but not the other. That’s their game.

Typical of a Slime piece. After the Civil War, and Jeff Davis was in prison, all the NY newspapers called for him to be freed. Only the New Your Times wanted him tried for treason.
Twenty staunch Abolitionists each gave $5000 in gold coin ($100,000 total) to get Davis released. Among those giving were Horace Greeley and Cornelius Vanderbilt.

The New York Times editorial board referenced comments made by an Army spokesman who told TIME in 2015 there was no need to remove Confederate base names because the “historic names represent individuals, not causes or ideologies.”

A concept so far above the prog "New York Times editorial board" that five years later they still do not understand the Army spokesman was, in a very subtle way, calling them stupid.

A lot of bases were established and named after confederate generals during the lead up to, and our involvement in WWI when Woodrow “Birth of a Nation” Wilson was POTUS.

From the NYT website, their definition of 'editorial board'...

The New York Times editorial board is made up of opinion journalists who rely on research, debate and individual expertise to reach a shared view of important issues.

So a cherry-picked gaggle of leftwing propagandists.

In case there are those here who are unaware ... the NYT is grounded in ‘’Stalin’’ and the fundamentals that created the USSR.

“The New York Times editorial board wrote that “the federal government embraced pillars of the white supremacist movement when it named military bases in the South.”

For those that embrace the notion that naming military bases named after southerners is wrong because of slavery, think about this: the need to rename Washington D.C., the District of Columbia, Seattle, Washington, destroy the Jefferson Monument, and rename the United States of America. And abolish the electoral college. And make it a hate crime to disagree with reparation proposals. And much more.

That’s what this is all about.

It’s doubtful that they were any more “racist” than Abraham Lincoln.

Assholes. Things like this make me doubt this will ever be peacefully resolved. Or at least resolved without a national divorce.

Howinthehell do these phony newz folks get away changing 'honoring' to 'celebrating'. Only liberal ghouls celebrate death. These 58,000 souls weren't supremacists.

Exactly. The north was and is every bit as racist as they proclaim the south to be.

There is an old saying; In the south nobody cared how close blocks got, but they couldn’t get too high. In the north nobody cared how high they got, but they would never allow them to get too close.
