Five Quick Things: Let That Mask Slip
The American Spectator ^ | 25 May 20 | Scott McKay

Posted on 05/25/2020 5:58:19 AM PDT by SkyPilot

That mask isn't virtuous, nor is it going to keep you from catching the virus. Plus, various other things.

It’s time to say a few things which need to be said — and to irritate some people who need to be irritated (as they are surely irritating).

And on with the show…

1. Enough with the Mask-Nazi nonsense.

Those of us who refuse to live our lives in fear, or to bow to those who do, have a message for the rest of you — the time has come and gone for us to continue with this idiotic charade of wearing masks in public.

The mask is not an adequate defense against the COVID-19 virus, gang. The virus checks in at somewhere between 0.06 and 0.14 microns, meaning it’s too small for any commercially available mask to effectively filter it out. The pores on an N95 mask, which are the best masks you’re reasonably going to find, and the vast, vast majority of you are not going to have N95 masks but rather cloth masks which perform far less well, are 0.3 microns.

Meaning that while the N95 mask you wish you had but don’t, and that you shouldn’t have because doctors and nurses who have to treat coronavirus patients daily in hospitals need a steady supply of them, might trap the virus most of the time, that crappy cloth mask you’re wearing is more or less worthless. All it’s doing is signaling to people that you think you care more about the virus than they do.

But if you really want to wear that mask, OK. Go ahead and wear it. It’s time to stop giving the stink-eye, or worse, a piece of your Karen mind, to people who aren’t impressed with your Mask Virtue...

1st they help turn larger droplets with viral particulate which would harmlessly drop to the ground into smaller aerosolized droplets which form a cloud that floats around for an extended length of time others to breath.

Mechanistic theorizing contradicted by empirical evidence.

you have not read my answers. I said does not filter all droplets and co sri f you cough or sneeze politely would do as much. Do you need me to use smaller words?

And by the way the virus is airborne. we use airborne precautions not droplet precautions in the hospital.

they concentrate the viral particulate that your body's immune response is trying to get rid of

So for the sake of your health you want to send your viruses into the air I breathe? That's a sociopathic degree of narcissism.

the virus is airborne

Evidence?

Surgeon general agrees with me as well as the UK top health official. I can link articles etc, but if wearing one makes you feel better or gives you some semblance of control, go ahead and fill your boots. I choose to remain free and part of that is not living in fear.

The response to 19 demonstrates the completeness of the feminization of our culture. Period.

Ding..Ding.. we have a winner!

"That being said, the masks do not protect you. They protect others FROM you."

Actually, they do both. Not as effectively for the first, but WAY better than nothing. VERY effectively for the second, 99% even for crude masks as long as they are multilayer.

I've already posted a link to the science on this thread.

Those are the studies from the same sources who predicted the commie flu models?

Not as far as I know; modeling and empirical research are different specializations. Can you document that they're the same sources - or are you just flinging mud?

They agree with you that the studies I cite are from the same sources who predicted the commie flu models? Links?

I choose to remain free and part of that is not living in fear.

You have no fear of infecting others - I understand. Not seeing how that's a "freedom" worthy of the name.

Wearing a mask to stop a virus is like putting up a chain link fence to stop mosquitoes.

Good comment.

Back in early March, Dr. Fauci told the media he was against the public wearing masks, and argued against their effectiveness. He almost mocked the Asian cultures where 85% of the public wear masks all the time.

Now, he's all for them.

The masks are to install fear in the public, keep the lock downs going, and thereby keep the tyranny going long enough for the Democrats and globalists to ruin the Trump economy and steal the fall elections.

My reservation about virus size is that the virus is said to travel in droplets. So maybe droplet containing virus gets trapped in mask. But what happens to virus after droplet dries up in mask?

Insights welcome.

Empirical research trumps the pronouncements of health officials.

Karen is the one who:

Asks to speak to the manager (bypasses the waitress) if her iced tea has too many/not enough ice cubes.

Will hold up the line in the 10 Items Or Less line with coupons from 2018. Then asks to see the manager.

Notices you taking your elderly mother for a drive and calls 911 because neither of you wore a mask.

She wants to know if I realize how many wildlife are smothered each year by my plastic bags.

Her husband looks tired and a little baffled.

So maybe droplet containing virus gets trapped in mask

A droplet will be mostly water. We are talking about very small particles (virions). COVID virions are 50–200 nanometres in diameter, averaging 125.

Even the N-95 won't filter these things effectively.

Empirical research then says that Covid particles are smaller than the 0.3 micron ability of the n95 mask. Wearing masks won’t prevent you from getting it.

Unfortunately, I have to keep laying vinyl plank on my staircase today, but I would encourage you to put your trust in God where it belongs, eat healthy, take the vitamins and put less faith in your studies.

I bet it is something like staying in a closet 24/7 with a mask on, whimpering, hugging his/her binky and damning “fools” who believe in Freedom...and in their immune system functioning as sold. Futher, there may be constant thoughts such as “What good is Freedom if you aren’t safe”.
Pathetic.

Hopefully, just to “guarantee being safe” the mask-o’s will wear theirs 24/7 for the rest of their lives.
