Or why the media is so desperate to turn good COVID-19 news into bad...
Fear is gripping the American public health and media establishments: they are losing control. States are belatedly (and far too tentatively) easing their coronavirus lockdowns, many without having met the absurd CDC benchmarks for doing so. Customers are joyfully returning to previously shuttered restaurants and parks, some even discarding that symbol of subjugation: the outdoor mask.
The mainstream media and health experts are not going down without a fight, however; their newfound power over almost the entirety of human life has been too exhilarating to give up now. Their reaction to the current rebellion provides a glimpse of the strategies that will be deployed during the much-hyped second wave of infections this fall in order to shut the economy down again.
The extent of media panic became clear in mid-May. On May 15, CNN checked back in to Georgia, that blackguard state that had started reopening in April without expert pre-clearance, drawing a rebuke even from President Donald Trump. On April 21, Washington Post columnist Dana Milbank wrote that Georgia governor Brian Kemp was seeking to turn his state into the place to die.
Three weeks later, things were not looking good for the proponents of indefinite shutdown. Since reopening late last month, CNN glumly reported, Georgia hasnt seen a spike in coronavirus cases. Time to change the standards for success: But there also hasnt been a significant decrease in new case counts, the cable channel added. New case counts had decreased 6 percent over a week but the drop just wasnt significant, by CNNs lights. Moreover, CNN pointed out, that downward trend was unsteadily downward, as if any set of data does not have daily fluctuations.

“And we will remove from our daily repartee the injunction to stay safe as an insult to human striving.”
Because the media are grade AA, blue-ribbon, genuWINE aholes of the first order.
There IS no other reason and they assume we are all morons.
Responsible people are looking at 3 things: testing positivity, Influenza Like Illness reports (at CDC site ) and hospital beds.
Were looking good.
The media’s bosses want the most profitable narrative, not the most factual one.
And the media obliges.
Tomorrow we’ll have numerous stories of how “irresponsible” people on Memorial Day have raised cases, though that’s physically impossible.
If theres not a flare up from Memorial Day in 2 weeks were golden!
All of these livelihoods destroyed just so they can win an election.
Think about that.

We are golden now, and we can’t believe the liars at the CDC. I truly doubt the death count to this virus is no where near 100k.
yep, if Biden wins the virus will fade from the news
CDC’s “influenza like illness” is a valid metric. Very hard to ‘fudge’.
“I truly doubt the death count to this virus is no where near 100k.”
Almost half of the official total - probably 35-40k - is due to “cuomocides” in New York and other northeastern states.
Without that artificial boost, corona would have been not much worse than a typical flu season at all.
CDC has constantly screwed things up during this flu. How can we trust any numbers? Very easy to fudge. They contaminated the first tests so they failed. Just like they finally admitted mixing the results of viral and serological tests.
This country should never been shutdown, this flu would have passed. The mortality rate of it is low compared to other viral threats.
No.
It’s a valid metric.
Inertia protects it LOL!
bureaucracies are helpless against inertia.
This is an old metric.
Yeah, where they have leeway the CDC is untrustworthy, but in this case they have no leeway.
The media have made us fear for our lives.
Is it not time to turn the tables?
Welcome to FR.
Just curious...where you a previous member, under a different name?
I usually watch Tucker Carlson while eating dinner, but this evening his program was devoted to fluff, so I switched over to MSNBC. One of their commentators said that we will likely have to “coexist” with the Wuhan virus for “a very long time,” meaning that we must get used to lockdowns, “social distancing” and mask-wearing for the rest of our lives.

I have seen officers around the country enforcing tyrannical orders; I was hoping it was a minority of officers, anymore, I am not so sure began Officer Andersons video. We do not get to violate someones Constitutional Rights
Officer Anderson is now on administrative leave, meaning, he will probably be fired. There is a GoFundMe to support Officer Andersons retention of a lawyer, you can give money right here.
Meanwhile, in Seattle, Kshama Sawant is spending taxpayer money to tell Amazon employees to use militant tactics to take over the company. She used her official position to tell people to steal rent from the people who own their buildings.
As this officer fights for his career, Gov. Jay Inlslee is releasing violent felons who have gone on to commit new crimes. When he is not busy releasing criminals, Inslee is threatening barbers.

Based on what Ive seen over the past two months, Id say we are at least 90% morons, maybe even more. Among other things I saw today:
People in their car, alone, with the windows up, wearing a mask. Thats nuclear grade stupid.
A woman wearing a CROCHETED face mask! I wish I could have taken a picture. The mask had 1/4 openings in it! She was either being a wise-*ss, or she is ready to establish her own village of idiots. The fact that almost anything you strap to your face qualifies as a face mask for the purpose of fighting the spread, tells you all you need to know about what a huge steaming pile of horse crap this whole thing is.
On the beach today in Southern Florida. Packed with 80 year olds loving life by getting sun. You will not see this on the news.
I actually read the article because I wanted to read that line.

And yes, if I ever hear “stay safe” again, it will be too soon.
Quit sugar-coatin' it and tell us how you REALLY feel! Lol.
