A former employer of mine once instituted a four-day work week for his professional services company. It lasted for several weeks before he shut it down. The trigger for the shutdown was the Friday when he was the only one in the office and realized there was nobody answering the phone when a client called. It’s kind of baffling that he didn’t think of that beforehand.
Why should we be listening to this guy? How many billions has he made?
Depends on the situation. People aren’t necessarily that productive as you add hours to the work day. If it works for you, great.
The point is it should not be mandated by outsiders. People don’t hire you because you need a job, they hire you because they need something done.

Small business already works way more than 40 hours a week. who is this 3 day work week for? Government? Government already has way more holidays and shorter hours than regular industry. We don’t need government workers to be any more entitled or worthless than they already are.
As for reduced hours as a way of “creating more jobs”, 32 hour work weeks for example, if this works for you, fine. Lots of businesses have gone to 20 hour weeks to avoid paying benefits, and there is an advantage in work forces with a lot of turnover... though short hours might actually cause the high turnover.
But in most businesses people are not interchangeable cogs. You work a full week, you want people around you who are going to work a full week with you. So again this should not be mandated by outsiders.
A four day work week would be okay so long as each work day is 10 hours.Then I would get 70 hours a week. With this 5 day week I only get 56.

Let’s see - in the winter, esp during DST, a 10 hour day would give some people about 2 minutes (or whatever) of daytime to do non work stuff or to just enjoy.
Dunno if people who work monotonous repetitive jobs, e.g. with widgets on an assembly line would approve (maybe they would, I dunno).
Actually I like the idea, but in just about everything in life there’s gonna be a downside for some people.

I used to work four 10 hour days, including the weekend. No problem. (not what yingyang meant, though)
I don’t think he’s talking about 4 10-hour days. More likely he wants the serfs to take a 20% salary haircut to work 32-hour weeks.

A 10-hour workday would be ok by everyone I know. It’s the 12-hour shift that I never liked.
4 day work weeks were predicted way back in 1960. The nearest I ever got to it was a 10 hour work day, four days a week. OT on Friday and Saturday.
It won’t work at some jobs. Try working a 4-day work week at a commissioned job & see what it gets you. Broke, most likely.
Yang’s proposals come from thinking that, because you know one business, you know all businesses and are qualified to decide what everyone else should do.

I worked for a company where you worked 4 - 10 hour days. So on the first week you would have Friday off, then Thurs, Wed, Tue, then Mon so that you would never have a 4 day weekend. It was great, there was always one of us off.
In my experience the rotating day off never worked all that well at the several facilities I saw it tried at, if they were open 5 days a week. The way that seemed to work the best was for each person to have one fixed additional day off in addition to the weekend. For the 7 day a week outfits, it didn’t seem to matter whether the third day was fixed or floating.
For those that don’t know, 4x10s have been a common feature of tech-oriented businesses for at least a couple decades now.
