MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — The FBI has been called to investigate after a man died Monday night in south Minneapolis after an encounter with police.

In a statement early Tuesday, police described what happened as a medical incident. However, a video posted on social media shows an officer kneeing a man’s neck to the ground for several minutes. Before he goes unconscious, the man, who is black, repeatedly tells officers he can’t breathe.

At a press conference Tuesday morning, Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey alluded to the graphic footage, saying: “I believe what I saw, and what I saw was wrong at every level.”

So, have the police investigate a police killing?

Yeah, that works well.

Here where I live, the County Sheriffs investigate the city police, and vice versa; gee for some reason nobody is ever found to do anything wrong.

IMHO, someone dies in ANY kind of confrontation with police short of coming out of building guns blazing and an impartial, or better yet overtly hostile investigation should commence. Within minutes.

You shouldn’t get ‘innocent until proven guilty’ when you are acting under the aegis of the State.

If he’s talking, he’s breathing.

Yep. This so reminds me of the Eric Garner incident. Despite the facts, there are still FReepers who believe Garner was choked to death.

Despite the autopsy. Despite the Coroners Report.

How do you ‘get in the car’ with two murderous cops on your back?
They killed that man, plain & simple.

Put it in a rhyme so they can easier learn:

On the video someone says..."we're not for sure if he was on anything."

It doesn't matter what he may or may not have been on.

No one should be held on the ground like an animal.

The cabal with help from Soros money are itching for another riot on the police and whites from the black community to further their agendas.

Make no mistake that this is what it is.

The cabal knows that a majority in the black community are opening their eyes to who the real enemy is and they can't have that.

Black Lives Matter which has always been funded by the Soros goons are probably getting checks as we speak to fill up the buses and start the riot/runs again.

That doesn't mean that this police officer shouldn't be held accountable at all. It does mean that we can look forward to more videos coming out to stoke the fire of racial divisiveness which is and always has been the goal.

Looks like the cop applied extra force with his knee every time the guy said “I can’t breath”. Cops have a strange sense of humor.

Is your post serious? MURDER???! Are you saying these officers intentionally acted to kill this man? Isn’t INTENT part of proving murder?

Kneeling on someone’s neck for several minutes as they plead they can’t breath shows intent. That the man died as a result makes it murder.

Apparently the man's name was George Floyd, according to the Twitterers.

They killed him very kindly and gently.

When I was young, they was a saying,” If he will mistreat a Black person, he will mistreat a White person.” I have seen it borne out more than once. Before you cheer them on too loudly, you may want to think about. In the political climate now, it is easier for them to mistreat a White person and go unpunished than for them to mistreat a Black person and go unpunished. Sooner or later, they will realize this.

yeah, that is exactly, precisely the system and it works very well. What does NOT work is the FBI as a national police force.

Explain to me the logic that local police, DA’s, Sheriffs, State Police and AGs are untrustworthy to investigate their own incidents, but the FBI is somehow above reproach?

By your logic, we should have FBI and DOJ corruption investigated by the Texas DPS and AG. After all, you can’t possibly expect them to investigate themselves.
Every local case is not meant to be federal, this is even clear in the US Constitution. And damned sure not in less than 24 hours.

If someone isn’t RESISTING with lethal force, then using lethal force on them is murder.\

There is simply no way anyone can present a legitimate justification for a policeman killing someone unless that person is either armed or attempting to get the cop’s weapon.

“No reason they couldn’t quickly cuff him and stick him in the cruiser.”

That’s what I’m thinking. The chubby Asian mini-cop doesn’t look like he would be of any help even if there were no onlookers to deal with - but call for some backup & get 3 - 4 more cops, pick him up and pop him in a cruiser or wagon. Muscle through it.

And in your world, the FBI is ... impartial, non-political, trustworthy? That kind of childlike innocence is almost inspiring...almost.

“Police should not be kneeling on some ones neck like that for a long time. Many police are out of control.”

Many people are out of control which is why many police are out of control. Idiot thug vs idiot cop. I take no sides on such nonsense.

There’s what’s called “depraved heart” murder - from Findlaw cuz I don’t trust my memory right now:

“Often the intent to kill (or malice aforethought) element of murder can be satisfied by showing that the defendant showed extreme indifference to human life. These are also known as “depraved heart” murders.

Acting with extreme recklessness and knowing that act is dangerous to human life (i.e., firing through the floor of your third-story apartment) and ending a human life may satisfy this intent element, even if the person never intended to kill anyone. This has been argued in fatal DUI cases in which the driver was far too intoxicated to form any intent.”

Would forcing nursing homes to accept patients infected and still infectious people while safe alternatives were available (Javits Center, USNS Comfort) be an act of a "depraved heart"?
