“Stop pretending that cops are your friend. “

My perception of the police radically changed a few weeks ago when the NJ Sheriff told the chinese virus protestors their Freedom of speech and protest no longer applied.

I no longer feel police will protect are 2nd amend either. If they are told they will lose their job or pension they will take away our guns in a heartbeat.

They will do a lot more than that if those who sign their paychecks tell them to.

Your perception is correct. Solzhenitsyn said it best:

“And how we burned in the camps later, thinking: What would things have been like if every Security operative, when he went out at night to make an arrest, had been uncertain whether he would return alive and had to say good-bye to his family? Or if, during periods of mass arrests, as for example in Leningrad, when they arrested a quarter of the entire city, people had not simply sat there in their lairs, paling with terror at every bang of the downstairs door and at every step on the staircase, but had understood they had nothing left to lose and had boldly set up in the downstairs hall an ambush of half a dozen people with axes, hammers, pokers, or whatever else was at hand?... The Organs would very quickly have suffered a shortage of officers and transport and, notwithstanding all of Stalin’s thirst, the cursed machine would have ground to a halt! If...if...We didn’t love freedom enough. And even more – we had no awareness of the real situation.... We purely and simply deserved everything that happened afterward.”

The police are a part of the Government. The Executive Branch. The enforcement branch. Their purpose is to keep you and me under control. They do as and what their bosses and our masters say. The Constitution be damned. Today it has no relevance. As the People's choice, the People's idol, and the People's god stated so eloquently. The Constitution is a list of what the Government can't do written by old White men. Or words to that effect. How his worshipers love and adore him!

The primary purpose of the police today is to keep the sheep under control. The sheep, as long as they remain in the pasture are given much leeway,a/k/a as privileges. The Chinese flu caused the sheep to exchange their Rights and responsibilities for privileges and Government Control.

So many here were saying the police wouldn't do that. This outbreak put that naive idea to bed.
