Facebook's Zuckerberg, Twitter's Dorsey Spar over Twitter’s Trump Fact-Check; Facebook says Private Companies Should Not be Arbiters of Truth
National Review ^ | 05/28/2020 | By TOBIAS HOONHOUT

Rival social media CEOs Mark Zuckerberg and Jack Dorsey had a public spat Wednesday night after Zuckerberg criticized Twitter for its fact-check of President Trump’s prediction that mass voting-by-mail would lead to fraud.

Speaking to Fox News’ Dana Perino, Zuckerberg — who has repeatedly pushed back on criticism for his decision to not censor political speech — said that Facebook has “a different policy than Twitter on this.”

“I just believe strongly that Facebook shouldn’t be the arbiter of truth of everything that people say online,” he stated. “Private companies probably shouldn’t be, especially these platform companies, shouldn’t be in the position of doing that.”

Dorsey later fired back at Zuckerberg’s “arbiter of truth” barb, explaining that Twitter’s goal “is to connect the dots of conflicting statements and show the information in dispute so people can judge for themselves.”

“More transparency from us is critical so folks can clearly see the why behind our actions,” he tweeted. Twitter promised that it had policy “changes” in the works on Tuesday, after calls for the president’s censorship over repeated tweets aimed at a conspiracy theory involving MSNBC anchor Joe Scarborough intensified.

President Trump warned Wednesday that he could “strongly regulate” or “close down” social-media companies if they “totally silence conservatives voices.” He also warned Twitter directly that “Big action” was coming after the platform added caveats to push back on the president’s claims that mail-in ballots were “substantially fraudulent” and could result in a “rigged election.”

LOL as if FB doesn’t delete content with their “moderators.” Pathetic

Facebook has an advisory committee of 20 to review and pass judgment on postings for content. 15 of the 20 are foreigners. Zuckerberg is a worse snake than the Twitter guy.

I have seen plenty of censorship in Facebook. They must take us all for fools.

Block profanity, incitation to violence, defamation of character. Those are easily detected algorithmically and blocked. Block them.

There is no way to detect lies, fake news, incorrect information and misleading information algorithmically. Don’t try to block them. Show the source of the posting and let the reader decide.

Dorsey double-talk.

Twitter doesn't show all the information in dispute. They aren't even close to doing that.

They aren't cable of doing that and I don't think they want to do that.

They are extremely biased and/or crooked.

They are a crony monopoly controlled by the Deep Global Establishment, pushing Fake News.

What we are witnessing is the reason that people like myself REFUSE to never touch any part of social media. EVER.

A little corporate humility from Mark Zuckerberg, of all people. If only he actually ran his company that way.

And yet Facebook will flag posts as inaccurate and use Snope as its source. I guess Zuckerman needs to talk to his people some more, huh?

Despite his posturing on censorship, Phuckerburg knows that if the legal protection provided by law (platform vs publisher) goes away, FB, Twit, et al will soon be sued out of business.

Likening Trump’s concerns about being censored as if it were govt interference in private businesses is absurd. Pres Trump, as the Executive, is responsible for enforcing the law. He is also given latitude to not enforce the law, at his discretion. So he would possibly be able to decide to no longer enforce the law for Twitter or Facebook.

Twitter CEO Dorsey is starting to sound paranoid. Maybe he’s heard from the SEC?

NOTE These social media platforms are not private businesses——these are publicly-held companies subject to SEC laws.

They raise money from the public and are traded on the stock exchange,

They “say” they are common carriers-—like planes, trains, cabs, buses........

Twitter is not a common carrier-——it is a publicly-held company subject to the laws of the SEC.

Zuckerberg does the same thing but has the good sense not to jump into the President's chili bowl.

Lesser known conservatives are censored all of the time on Facebook.

Dorsey is in the open, while the motherzucker is a snake sliding under cover.

I agree, they can't kick me off, because I've never been signed up for any of it.

There is too much of my information on the web without me voluntarily giving up more personal info.

Oh, like how Twitter doesn’t link CCP Propaganda to the Epoch times?

BS that FB doesn’t fact check political opinion - I cannot tell you how many posts (and even memes) that I see which are flagged as being false by FB - at least 1-2 per day, for months on end. They ARE, IN FACT, fact-checking.

PHUCK YOU, ZUCKERBERG!!!
