Washington Post columnist and Fox News contributor Marc Thiessen previewed President Trump's Friday announcement dealing with China on "The Story" Thursday, predicting that the president would "impose sanctions" on the Beijing government in response to its moves to restrict Hong Kong's autonomy.
"He's going to tell ... the Chinese regime, 'What you're doing is unacceptable,'" Thiessen said. "When this [national security] law takes effect in September, the Chinese regime is going to be able to ban pro-democracy groups, arrest people for political crimes. They're going to allow the state security service, which is the Chinese secret police that terrorizes people all over mainland China, to operate openly in Hong Kong, which they have not been allowed to do.
"This is an end to Hong Kong's autonomy and an end to Hong Kong's freedom," Thiessen added.

No! We need to send all Chinese home. Sent home all visa workers, all students, researchers, etc. They are all spies, and can go home tomorrow.
Revoke all ChiCom visas (tourist, student, work, etc) NOW
Tax all remittances
Recognize Taiwan
Don’t threaten - Do it.
If the CHiComs get away with stealing Hong Kong’s freedom, they will only be emboldened to try to grab more. Taiwan, The South Cina Sea, Phillipines. The price they must pay must be enough to deter them.
Kick the legs out from under their fraudulent financial house of cards.
Let the people of Hong Kong find refuge in all the advanced countries - they are world class talent, who will pull the economic cart, rather than try to ride in it.
Communist China overwhelmingly passed the Hong Kong takeover law.
Maybe the Earth has that grid of longitudinal and latitudinal lines for a reason.
The Philippines?
Jetski Dutae already are allowimg the Communist Chinese to take it
For the most part, Hong Kong people are rich, hard working, and English speaking. They are a world class rare talent pool. Lets open the doors to the yacht people of Hong Kong to come here, so we can grow rich together.
Few people are as opposed to socialism, as those who had to flee from it. The single most Republican-leaning demographic in the USA has long been Cuban emigres.
Hong Kongers who emigrate can also work for our intelligence services to work to overthrow that reprehensible clique of murderous despots that is oppressing the people of China.
Free China!
Welcome Hong Kong Brothers!
“The Philippines?”
Who knows - probably not the first on their list, but they will assess their opportunities, and they do seem to want to boldly grab what they can, before conditions turn against them.
The economic party is coming to a rapid end in China, and they face the risk of some epic crashes (markets, debt, real estate, currency, GDP), or “lost decades” of growth. So of their goals will be harder to achieve later, if they fail to snatch them now, while the West is still distracted by COVID-19 and not unified.
The actual Chinese economy is a Ponzi scheme that is propped up by a positive Current Accounts Balance that brings more foreign capital in than is allowed to escape. If investments into China are blocked and capital redirected outside China their banks fail from over leveraged real estate debt and the house of cards collapses.
We can only do this with the assistance of European, Asian, and African allies. Trump can’t do this on his own but he can set the course. China fears encirclement more than anything.
Chicom bump for later......
The Hong Kongers may show the Brits how to keep Britain from being taken over by muslims.
65% of Chinese-American citizens voted to reelect Barack Obama in 2012.
Re: “The single most Republican-leaning demographic in the USA has long been Cuban emigres.”
Only the First Wave of Cuban immigrants voted Republican.
That exodus started in 1960 and ended around 1970.
Most of the First Wave traced their ancestors to Europe. They were the professional class and the business owner class of Cuba.
The Second Wave of Cubans started in 1980 and continues today.
They are mostly Caribbean and African in ancestry.
They vote overwhelmingly Democrat.
That (two distinct waves of Cuban emigres) explains why the Cuban American vote has shifted.
They are no longer sending us their best.
This (Hong Kong) is another rare historic opportunity to absorb another wave of business owners and professional elites, from one of the World’s top performing areas - the cream of the human capital crop.
They will also likely carry a chip on their shoulders against socialist despotism, till their dying day.
There is a big quality distinction among immigrants - those who will make you money, and those who will cost you money.
Among those who are net contributors to the economy, a few groups rise above the averages as superstars, like Jews, or South African/Rhodesian Boer farmers. There is a large group in Hong Kong like that. It is one of Planet Earth’s greatest finance capitals.
