I think the cops’ defense is likely to be that the suspect “failed to follow police instructions.”
Have seen all sorts of violent mahem including negligence leading to homicide (against whites) defended at the local level by cops, PBA and their friends because suspects allegedly didn’t follow officers’ instructions.

Agreed. Take race out of the equation. I didn’t like what I saw. He was already handcuffed and lying on the ground. A knee to the neck with body weight behind it was uncalled for at that point, especially with other officers right there.
