COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS-TV) Protesters in Columbia marched from the South Carolina State House to the police headquarters to protest the death of George Floyd.
Police officers were waiting for the protesters outside the police station in riot gear.
Advertisement The protest, titled I Cant Breathe, started around 12 p.m. Saturday.
The protest started off peaceful but then turned violent. Rocks were thrown and police cars were vandalized and set on fire out of Columbia Police Department headquarters.
Organizers for the Columbia event say blacks leaders across the nation called for a national march.
Floyd died in police custody after he became unresponsive when a police officer kneeled on his neck for several minutes.
It was captured on video and has caused national outrage. Floyd said several times he couldnt breathe.

I wrote this around 1800
downtown Greenville SC shut down all access to main street, TONS of cop cars screaming to get there, sheriff’s vehicles blocking entrance to police station
ANTIFA and BLM had rally earlier today, night time is coming...
the rally ended 3 hours ago, and now they are shutting downtown down
What do they want? Destruction only. “Institutionalized racism” is a lie, handed to them by the father of lies as an excuse to follow him in a more direct way.
I’ve been listening to press conferences.
Curfews in effect. City, county, and highway patrol types on the job.
A lot of rabble rousers are most likely imported terrorists.
Looks like about 20 people.
Your stimulus dollars at work.
The country is insane, period.
Meanwhile, NBC is pushing the narrative its whie supremacists infiltrating the riots, not Antifa and BLM.
Unbelievable.
Unless, I am mistaken, the cop was arrested and will be prosecuted. No whitewash. No lengthy investigation. No equivocation. THAT is justice. Mob rule, is not.
It’s a bunch of White supremacists putting on blackface in those riots. Anyone seen Governor Northam this weekend?
Sometimes there is such a thing as too much news coverage. During the era of 24 hour live news, it seems these riots have a tendency to spread like a virus (no pun intended). Perhaps, in states of emergency, the news media, who promotes the violence by showing it in its if it bleeds it leads 24/7 commercial efforts, should be banned from riot sites to avoid inflaming the situation and should be further prohibited from showing it.Also prevail on youtube to censor the graphic displays of violence and looting. Back in the day, when there were riots in the sixties and there was little real time coverage and only an hour or two of TV news during the day, these things were 2 or 3 day affairs, not days on end.

We learn to be afraid of the dark if we think scary creatures come out of hiding and do things.
Used to be a children’s fear. Now a factor in policing strategy and curfews.
I thought it was...”I can’t breev.”.
I disagree.
Although the media does not intend it that way, they are convincing most of us that this is a matter that needs to be resolved immediately, and by resolved I mean ended.
Where the media is at fault is in broadcasting known lies.
The big lie right now is that white supremacists are causing the violence, without any factual proof.
The media owes it to the public to publish only what they can prove to be truthful. To do otherwise is yelling fire in the theater and making the situation more dangerous.
Misrepresenting facts at a time like this for the sole purpose of selling more advertising time is a major disservice to the nation.
