POTUS needs to put out an executive order. Every household will be required to have a gun. Doesn’t have to be adhered to but it sends a message.
Sounds like Obama’s decree through the ACA that everyone must purchase health insurance.
I’m all in favor of every law-abiding citizen being armed and well trained and practiced. I think it would drastically reduce all crime. But I will not and never will be in favor of government forcing people to purchase things they don’t want to buy. That’s authoritarian dystopia and I’m not on board. The purpose of government is to provide the organization and coordination for people to secure their own rights and the rights of their fellow citizens. It’s not there to coddle people or make decisions for them like what products or services to buy. I didn’t support the mandate when it was health insurance in the ACA and I don’t support any other mandate like it.
Things like COVID-19 and the Floyd riots are waking people up to the need to be prepared for systemic breakdowns. Let those smart enough to see the big picture and who care enough about themselves and their families come to that on their own. There is no need to force it.
