RALEIGH, N.C. — North Carolina's governor said in a letter Tuesday that the GOP must prepare for a scaled-back convention in Charlotte because of the coronavirus pandemic despite demands from President Donald Trump for a full-scale, in-person event.
Gov. Roy Cooper, a Democrat, said in the letter to the top convention organizer and the national GOP chairwoman that he's happy to continue conversations over how to hold the convention safely, and is still awaiting a safety plan requested by North Carolina officials.
"The people of North Carolina do not know what the status of COVID-19 will be in August, so planning for a scaled-down convention with fewer people, social distancing and face coverings is a necessity," Cooper said in the letter.

The GOP should prepare for a convention in Florida or Texas.
The RNC will rightly bail on Charlotte.

The Coronavirus scam is over. Rioting is OK but continuing on like civilized people cannot be permitted.

Just leave N.C. and go to FL or TX; plenty of time. Plus Charlotte will blame the idiot Cooper for loss of revenues. EVEN IF, Copper capitulates ... it’ll be Lucy with the football on the RNC WHEN it’s too late to move. Move it now while there’s the option to do so.
Go to Georgia instead. Their REPUBLICAN governor has already invited the GOP Convention to come to his fully-opened state.
I have wondered why no one has chastise the rioters for not practicing social distancing.
It needs to be in swing state, IMO.
